Mr Custance, president of Rotary Club, read the names of the nine honorable mentions in the Essay Contest, before announcing the two winners. This was well received. Also, read were two condensations of the winners' essays. After their trip to New York, it it hoped that the local paper will print pictures of their excursion to encourage more students to enter the essay contest next year. The League personnel feel it would be a good move to find a project that would involve more students and/or a project that would involve more town people, in order to make more Lexi.ngtonians aware of United Nations Day, The League personnel will meet with the High School personnel next month to discuss how better to present United Nations Day to Lexington. Mr. Lord will meet with this conmittee and report to the Town Celebrations Committee the results of this meeting. It is generally felt that something is needed to spark a ceremony in the elementary schools to raise the United Nations Flag on United Nations Day with appropriate feelings. Mrs. Litchfield will write letters of appreciation to the following groups for their particular parts in our United Nations celebration. The League of Women Voters, the Lions Club, the Rotary Club, the Elks, and the Jaycees. VETERANS DAY The rosters are ready and will be passed out at next week's meeting. The National. Guard will be marching in the parade The Campfire Girls will also be marching. It is doubtful that the Hayden Fifers and Drummers will be participating. 278 Father McLeod will give the benediction at the Green ceremonies. The speaker of the day will be Col.
