TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
October 20, 1966
PRESENT. Chmn Barnes, Mrs. Litchfield, Mrs Severance, Mr. Broderick,
Mr. Sperduto., Mr Lord, Mr. Belcastro and Mrs Hall.
VISITORS Herbert Miller, American Legion
Edward Fitzgerald, Veterans of Foreign Wars
VETERANS DAY Mr. Edward Fitzgerald will be the Chief Marshal again this
year. His Aides will consist of
Mr. Herbert Miller, American Legion
Mr. Francis McNamara, Marine Corps League
Mp. George Gabriel, Lexington Minute Men
The High School Band will march, partake of the collation at the
V.F.W. Hall, and be picked up by the buses there and taken to the
Lexington/Reading football game,
Mrs Litchfield will call the National Guard about their participation
in the parade The female members of the Town Celebrations Committee
will contact the Boy Scouts, Girl. Scouts, Campfire Girls, and the
Hayden about their participation in the paradeā
Mrs Litchfield will. ask Father Casey to be our Speaker of the day
She will then ask that Father McLeod give the benediction at the
Green ceremonies The Rev. Richard Harding of the Methodist Church
will give the invocation at the Green ceremonies.
Assembly time for the parade will be at 9.:15 a.m. at the Munroe
School. Following the Green ceremonies, the entire parade will
march back to Cary Hall for dismissal, and it will be reviewed there
by the- Chief-Marshal and his staffs
UNITED NATIONS DAY Mrs Litchfield will call George Rowe, Jr. of the
Jaycees (president) about having someone from the Jaycees present at
the 10:330 a.m. tree-planting program at the William Diamond Junior
High School on Monday, October 24th. The Jaycees donate the tree.
Mrs. Severance will. ask Principal John Hibbard of Diamond Junior High
School to have the president and vice president of the class assist
in the tree planting
Mr. Haskell Reed assures us the Lions Club will send a representative
to the 7 a.m. Green ceremony to present a United Nations Flag to
Dr Lester Goodrich, Principal of the new Bridge School, (or someone
Dr Goodrich might delegate); this would mean every school. now has
a United Nations Flag.

PATRIOTS DAY - 1967 We approached the chairman of Concord°s Public
Ceremonies and Celebrations Committee to split the cost of having
the Air Force Bagpipe Band in our parade and theirs Their committee
was not in favor of this plan.
Mrs. Litchfield will write to the Linn Village Drum Band from
Lynnfield and ask that they march in our parade.
MEMORIAL DAY - 1967 Mrs. Litchfield will write to the Commandant
of the First Naval District asking that he be our Speaker of the
day next Memorial. Day at ow Green ceremonies
