TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
May 12, 1966
PRESENT Chmn. Barnes, Mr Gaughan, Mr Sperduto, Mr Belcastro,
Mr Broderick, Mr. Lord, Mrs Litchfield, and Mr Hall
MEMORIAL DAY The committee received a letter from Adm. Sieglaff
expressing his regrets at not being able to be our Memorial Day
speaker, because of a previous commitment.
Mr. Lord reported that Miss McIntyre will select a student from the
High School to deliver the Gettysburg Address at the Munroe
Cemetery.
Col. Long and Major Corydon Wyman were suggested as possible speakers
for May 30th. Mr. Belcastro will attend a May 16th meeting, at which
meeting William Connors, Regional Director of the Veterans
Administration, will be present also. He will ask Mr Connors if he
can be our May 30th speaker on the Green.
Mr. A. Thomas Ferry, Chief Marshal. for Memorial Day, will be asked to
review the parade at Cary Memorial Hall, to winch the parade will
march from the Green, after the ceremonies there, for dismissal.
PATRIOTS DAY Mrs. Estes will be asked to turn in to F.hi, committee
the drum sticks, two slings, and socks from the Spirit of '76
regalia. Mr Sperduto report'd that the trousers of these outfits
were damaged, because n_ the Constant rubbing of the drums.
The April 19th luncheon bill from the Heritage Room was discussed,
and it was deeded to pay it in frill .
k suggestion for next year's Patriots Day celebration is to have
official stgn3 made for all involved personnel connected with-the
day's activities„ This would prevent any cars from being towed
away in error.

PRESENT Mr Broderick, Mr Lord, Mr Bel Astro, Mrs Litchfield,
Mr Barnes (for a short time) and Mrs. Hall
GENERAL The comiuittee received a lettar from the Michael Scott., Inc.
company .regarding the P. A system's ampli.flir.
MEMORIAL DAY The National Guard is sending a representation to our
Memorial Day pa? ».de.
The Gettysburg Address will be given by John Macilohald, a senior at
the High School.
Mr. Bernard J. Corrolte, pre, ident, C. R. W. Transportation Company Inc ,
is furnishing gratis the two buses for Westview Cemetery on Memorial
Day Mrs. Litchfield will write to him after May 30th and thank him
for his kind generosity.
Mrs. Litchfield will arrange for the various members of the clergy to
participate at the several stops in the May 30th parade. She will
also write to Adm. Sieglaff now to be our speaker ne-'t May 10th, 1967.
She will also write to Col Oscar Tonetti to be our Veterans Day
Speaker Col. Tonotti is at the '^tatertown Arsenal.
