TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
May 5, 1966
PRESENT Vice Chmn. Gaughan, Mr. Broderick, Mr. Lord, Mr. Belcastro,
and Mrs. Hall
VISITORS Ray Lewis, American Legion
A Thomas Ferry, American Legion and Chief Marshal for
May 30th parade
Charles Sisk, American Legion
USS LEXINGTON The flag detail and firing squad are all set for
the May 8th memorial service at the Minute Man statue on the Green,
for the men lost in the battle of the Coral Seas on the USS Lexington.
Tricorn hats and arm bands should be worn by committee members
Rabbi Rosenblum will give a short patriotic talk at this service.
Mr. Belcastro will look into the matter of a small stand and P. A.
system for this service, as well as for the Memorial Day exercises
on the Green.
YS-. Stone, bugler, has arranged for an "echo" to be played.
MEMORIAL DAY Chief Marshal for this parade will be Mr. A. Thomas Ferry
of 28 Columbus Street, Lexington.
Mx. Lewis will check with Mr. Rufus MacQuillan about the Auxilliary
of the Sons of Union Veterans' mothers in the Munroe Cemetery and their
duties.
Mrs Litchfield will check with the Girl Scouts for the necessary wreath
bearers. She will also check with the National Guard for their possible
participation in this observance.
The committee still awaits word of the speaker of the day.
Mr. Lord will check with Miss McIntyre on the name of the student who
will give the Gettysburg Address in the Munroe Cemetery
Mr. Lewis offered to run off any rosters for this observance, and any
other assistance with •osters.
Hanscom Air Base is sending a marching unit. The Jody Drill Team has a
previous commitment, however.
Mr. Ferry and American Legion members will attend our May 19th meeting for
any pre-parade briefing.

MISCELLANEOUS The committee voted to send a letter of thanks and
appreciation to. Mr. Oraustein, signed by the Chairman, for his
services as Chief Marshal on April 19th, 1966.
Twenty-one "Aide" arm bands have been returned, with four. outstanding
All. other arm bands have been returned.
April 19th hills paid to date amount to $1627.33 The bill for diners
at Anthony's will be $76.00, to be split for payment between this
committee and Concord's Public Observance Committee.
