Gaughan, Mr. Broderick, Mr. Belcastro, Mr. Lord, Mr. Sperduto, Mrs. Severance, and Mrs. Hall. VISITOR Charles Sisk, American Legion PATRIOTS DAY At next week's meeting (April 7th), Chief Marshal Graustein will meet with his Division Marshals. Dr. William 0 Way has invited the Chief Marshal, Mr. Sperduto, and the ladies on this committee to the Rotary luncheon at the Battle Green Inn at noon on Monday, April 11th We will b( asked to give a pep all for the parade, and Mr Sperduto will speak on the Sister City Project. CORRESPONDENCE Acceptances Major Gen. J. M Ambrose, Adjt Gen of the Commonwealth British Consul J. N 0. Curie, and Major Vass, Aide Senator Saltonstall Grotto Oriental Band Naval Marching Unit and Band from the U. S S. essex Westover Field Band Reading Police Association Army Color Guard, Band, and Two Platoons Regrets Coast Guard Units Awaiting Senator Long Col. Long ® Cambridge Research Lab Gen. O'Malley (Commanding Officer at Fort Devens) The three wreaths have-been-ordered at Carlsons. Mr. Handley is all set on the Belfry bell ringing and church bell ringing. SISTER CITY PROJECT Mr. Sperduto has met with this committee (Sister City) and assures us a group is coming from Dolores Hidalgo, Lexington's sister city in Mexico, headed by its Mayor Jose Azanza Jimenez (probably 5 or 6 in number). We will have them for lunch, on the reviewing stand, and at the reception following the parade Mr Gaughan suggerted that the Mayor give Lexington an American flag to be raised on April 19th at the Green ceremonies in the early morning This committee agreed to accept the Maraichis group in the afternoon parade with their accom- panying music, and possibly to the reception. Mr. Sperduto tells us they are a fine, colorful group. In general, the Town Celebrations Committee is extending an invitation to the representatives from the Sister City to partake in our April 19th activities, through the People to People Committee. 252 Mrs. Litchfield is asked to send a written invitation to Mr. and Mrs Endicott Peabody, representing the World Affairs Council, to partake of our activities from approximately noontime until about six p m.. on April 19th, in conjunction with the Sister City project. MISCELLANEOUS Commander Sisk, of the American Legion, discussed a group of refugees from some of the Iron Curtain countries marching on April. 19th with the American Legion He will be at our next meeting to present fuller details on this matter The Legion is willing to sponsor this group. MEMORIAL DAY Mr. Belcastro was asked to set up a meeting with the veterans groups for the planning of activities for Memorial Day He was to stress that this committee needs to know now if they will procure a speaker or not We are meeting with the veterans groups on April 21st to firm up May 30th plans, and will , at that time, discuss Memorial Day plare in full MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS CONCERNING APRIL 19th Mr Lord will. ask Mr. Gillespie of the High School. Band if the Band could continue to play on the Green for the remaining marchers still to arrive Thi. provides a cadence which is always helpful This would be at the Sunrise Parade and Ceremonies on the Green. Mr. Lord reported he has run off 1000 Guide Maps and will give them to Mr. Leon Burke for distribution. Since our Spirit of '76 is sagging at the moment, Mr. Sperduto will check with the Minute Men and Mr. Douglas Maxner, while Mr. Lord checks into some High School talent, and report to this committee. Thi, committee officially voted to place the reviewing stand on the Massachusetts Avenue side of the Battle Green.
