Mr. Barnes stressed to those present the importance of having floats conform somehow to the parade theme, in order to be eligible for a trophy. He mentioned that the order of floats in the parade is strictly chance, since they are picked from a hat by this committee. Mr. Cronin suggested using rubber-track vehicles, rather than cleat-track vehicles to tow floats, since the cleats are apt to cut up the streets. Mr. Cronin also suggested that each entry have with it a participant at the judging in East Lexington to explain to the judges how the parade theme was developed. and carried out in constructing the float. Mr. Cronin also mentioned that the trophies are kept by the winners. Mr. Barnes said any floats not being judged should leave their home destination by noon at the latest, in order to reach East Lexington by 1 p.m. assembly time. Float participants number about fifteen to date, and will be dispersed through the second, third, and fourth divisions, thus conveniently separating bands. The Aides will line up the floats directly after the judging. 9 250 Drivers of the floats are asked to keep going upon arrival at Worthen Road, either to the left, straight up Massachusetts Avenue, or to the right for parking in the church parking lots. They were cautioned not to leave via Bedford Street, since they could tie up traffic and the Fire Department. The question of the width of floats was brought up. It was stated that twelve to thirteen feet would be maximum. The height of floats was questioned. Mr. Graustein will look into this matter. At present, it is listed at fourteen feet CORRESPONDENCE Winchester Rangerettes regret they cannot march on April 19th. Col. and Mrs. Barrere have accepted our invitation for April. 19th.
