VISITORS Police Chief James Corr Fire Commissioner William Fitzgerald Reverand Floyd Taylor, First Parish Church Frank Crosby, Selectman-candidate Chief Corr expressed the Police Department's enjoyment of Patriots Day and their participation therein. The Lexington Policemen will most likely be sporting their new uniforms this year. He mentioned that the parade overflow might be put into the Pollen Church parking lot, and that in five years or so, with the parade becoming larger and larger each year, the overflow could create a problem. Chief Corr mentioned that the Road Race will again be held this year. He asked why the parade route went right at the Minute Man statue instead of to the left. This was discussed, and it seems feasible that the parade could go left at the statue straight up Massachusetts Avenue, provided there is enough space on that side of the Green for the Reviewing Stand. Mr. Fitzgerald said that years ago, this was the route of the Patriots Day parades. This re-routing would eliminate the hoard of people crossing through Mr. Taylor's yard on the corner of Bedford Street and Harrington Road. Last year, his fence was broken and a limb of his tree broken. Mr. Fitzgerald was asked to be marshal of the 5th Division, and he accepted. He suggested having the Boston Firemans' Band lead the 5th Division. Mrs. Litchfield will write to John Griffin, Fire Commissioner of Bostoh, to see about this band. Ni-. Sperduto-said- that-the Float Applications wouldgoout on-this-date. The Selectmen had a letter from Ri.chard Soule, in which he suggested a special committee be formed for the planning of this town's 200th anniversary celebration. This town's Finance Committee approved this committee's budget for only $5000.00 This is $200.00 shy of our requested budget. Clan McPherson Band has accepted our invitation. Linn Village Drum Band cannot be with us, however, due to a previous commitment. The Tufts Naval. R.O.T.C. Drill Team has accepted, without their band. The Tufts Air Force R 0.T.0 Drill Team sent its regrets The Salem Rockettes Drum and Bugle Corps will be here with 95 to 100 seniors. Invitations to the Air Force personnel will go out next week. 242 Approximately ten bands have accepted our invitation to participate in the afternoon Patriots Day parade. This breaks down to about three per division. Mrs. Moyle has agreed to cater the Reception following the afternoon parade. Mrs Hall confirmed the luncheon plans with Mr. Morse at the Heritage Room of the Battle Green Inn. Mr. Morse will want a reasonably accurate number of diners given him one week in advance.
