TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
January 6, 1966
PRESENT Chairman Barnes, Mr Gaughan, Mrs. Li.tchfi.eld, Mrs. Severance,
Mr Broderick, Mr Lord, and Mrs. Hall.
VISITOR It. Col Ernest J Graustein, Chief Marshal - April 19th
Parade - 1966
GENERAL The Board of Selectmen have accepted with regret the
resignation of Maurice Healy from this committee. The committee
notes this with regret.
The Selectmen have approved the $5200.00 budget we submitted to them.
It now goes to the Appropriations Committee and to Town Meeting.
PATRIOTS DAY After much consideration, the committee voted the
following theme, subject to change at the next meeting
"PATRIOTISM - OUR HERITAGE"
We will invite the following groups to meet with us on the specified
dates below•
January 13th - Past Chief Marshals
January 20th - All. Civic, Veteran, and Youth groups,
and Past Marshals (Hopefully, this
will be a meeting in Estabrook Hall
where the 1965 April 19th movies,
taken by the Hanscom men, will be shown.)
January 27th - Youth Groups
February 3rd - Civic Groups
February 10th - Veterans Groups
February 17th - Fire and Police Departments
Mr Gaughan will call Mr Rudd for the movies of April 19th in 196J.
Mrs. Litchfield received word that Hanscom Field. will be sending a
marching unit and its Jody Drill Team. She will invite the cadets from
Norwich University to come, since Fort Devens has offered to put up the
cadets.
Mrs. Litchfield has been instructed as to the Bands and Marching Units
to be invited, and she will invite them at her earliest convenience.
The committee went over the Invitation List of Dignitaries, and so forth,
and Mrs. Litchfield will invite Governor Volpe, Senator Saltonstall and
Senator Kennedy now.

Its. Hall is to bring to next week's meeting the listed information
found throughout last year's minutes pertinent to April 19th planning.
