TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
December 2, 1965
PRESENT Chairman Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Broderick,
Mr. Healy, Mr Sperduto, Mr. Lord, and Mrs. Hall
VISITOR Richard Michelson, Jaycees
PERMANENT RAISING OF THE FLAG This committee heartily thanked
Mr. Michelson for a job well done. His efforts were not in vain.
Mr. Michelson thanked this committee on behalf of the Jaycees,
for being allowed to take part in this important occasion. The
Board of Selectmen thanked this committee, the Chief Marshal,
and the Jaycees for their joint efforts., 1
Mrs. Litchfield will write to Mr Murray of the Belfry Club and
thank him for paying the steward, Mr Kidd, for his services on
Sunday, November 21st. Mr. Murray felt that the Belfry Club
considered it a privilege to do this, since they were impressed
with the patriotic significance of the day.
GENERAL Mrs. Hall was asked to type the year's minutes for
1965 in the permanent record book. She will make a list of
notations having to do with April 19th for the next meeting.
Our next meeting will be on January 6th.
It is agreed. that our public address system must be fixed up so
as to be reliable from now on.
We will be receiving a bill from Petersons for the sixty chairs
we used on the Bandstand and Guests ' Platform on November 21st

APRIL 19TH. The Army,--Navy, -and -Coast -Guard have-had -our
invitation to participate, and all will advise us on their
availability in the future Mrs Litchfield will ask the
Air Force for any and all units they can give us for our
parade. She will also invite the 3rd Rocket Battalion to
participate.
The Don Juans Drum & Bugle Corps from Cambridge have requested
permission to march. We will advise them in the future.
Mrs. Litchfield will send Patriots Day material and a Permanent
raising of the flag's proclamation to Mr. Tom Tope in Ohio,
who has written us requesting same.

Placing of the Jaycees plaque commemorating the permanent raising
of the flag could. conceivably take place on the Sunday before
the 19th, along with other activities on the Battle Green.
At our next meeting on January 6th, each Board member is to
submit two (2) suggestions for our April 19th theme. Some
of the words and phrases talked over were
Loyalty, Heritage, Liberty, Fraternity,
Equality;
"I Pledge Allegiance.. "
"Loyalty To Our Heritage - Old Glory"
We are to come up with suggestions for the Chief Marshal for
April 19th. The name of Ernest Graustein was one suggestion
already mentioned. It was noted that it would be nice to
nominate a V. F. W man also.
