Cole, Chairman, Beard of Selectmen Rickard Michelson, Jaycees Raymond Lewis, American Legion Earl Batson, Veterans Of Foreign Wars Charles Whalen, Veterans Of Foreign Wars UNITED NATIONS DAY Rev. Miles R. McKey of the Follen Church will give the invocation at the Green ceremony Rev. Clark of the Hancock Church will be out of town, and sends his regrets. VETERANS DAY The parade will start from the Munroe School at 10 a.m. Assembly time is 9:45 a.m. This committee still hasn't heard from Col. Passales. Mrs Litchfield will write to the State Adjutant of the National Guard to attempt to establish a more efficient method of communication and cooperation between the National Guard and this committee. We still have no speaker for the Green ceremony. Admiral Sieglaff sent his regrets. Mr. Healy cannot reach Col. Riley Mr Raymond Lewis will try to procure for us the Department Commander of the American Legion. He will advise Mrs. Litchfield by phone early this week of his results. If the results are unfavorable, there are two other possibilities for speaker Col. Jordahn at the Watertown Arsenal, and Col. Carroll of the 94th Troop Carr-ier-W-ing-at Hanscom. PERMANENT RAISING OF THE FLAG Mr. Lincoln Cole, Chairman of our Board of Selectmen, informed this committee tonight of the passing of the bill for the permanent raising of the flag in Lexington. The bill awaits President Johnson's signature. Since this appears to be in the near future, Mr. Cole, speaking for the Board of Selectmen, asked this committee to undertake the planning of a suitable observance on a designated day, being careful to remember all people involved in pushing this bill through. The date and plans would be checked out with the Board of Selectmen before finalization. Our Congressman, Mr. Bradford Morse, was one of the people directly responsible for the bill's passage, and he will be asked to be the speaker at this observance. 21. 2 Mr. Richard Michelson of the Jaycees suggested this observance take place at sundown. He brought up the possibility of procuring national publication for Lexington. He further mentioned that the Jaycees might wimp to place a plaque at this observance. The four Veterans groups in Lexington, the Elks, and the Jaycees will be invited to meet with this committee next week, October 28th, to further discuss these plans. SISTER CITY PROGRAM Mr. Sperduto spoke with a Mr. Sister, Chairman of the World Affairs Council of the Pan American Society, about the possibility of Lexington's becoming a Sister City with Dolores Hidalgo in •Mexico. Their struggle for independence _began in 1810. Mr Sperduto will ask Mr Slate for details of the responsibilities of becoming a Sister City, and then ask that Mr. Sista write said details in a letter to our Board of Selectmen for their approval.
