GENERALS Corrections and additions were made to the Secretary's
reports of the last three meetings, and the minutes stand
approved as corrected.
A letter from the Minute Men asked that they be given, if
possible next year, $400.00 hosting expenses. Mrs. Litchfield
will write the Minute Men and say we will include the $400.00
request in our next year's budget, but that we cannot
guarantee them that sun. At any rate, this committee has
approved the request.
UNITED NATIONS DAY This committee should be at the 7 a.m.
Flag Raising on the Green on Monday, October 25th, and at
the Tree Planting and School exercises at 9 30 a.m. at the
Maria Hastings School.
The Marine Corps League and the American Legion confirm
their agreement on the Flag Raising ceremony on the Green.
The Marine Corps League will raise the United Nations Flag.
The American Legion will raise our National Colors.
Mrs. Litchfield will invite Rev. McKey to give the invocation,
and Rev. Clark to give the benediction. She will invite
Mr. Greeley to attend the Flag Raising on the Green, the
invitation coming from this committee. She will inquire if
Miss Keefe wants to invite Mr. Greeley to the Maria Hastings
rrograr
Mr. Lord reported that Miss McIntyre has over one hundred
applicants for the Essay Contest, which required of her to
ask for five more judges. This is very encouraging
participation from the High School. Miss McIntyre will
show the UN movie to all her Social Studies classes.
Concerning our public address system, hopefully it should
be in good working order by October 25th, and may even be
available for the October 16th High School Football Game,
if needed.
Mrs. Severance will call Mrs. Pennell and ask that she contact
Mr. Cantor of Rotary about awarding the prizes for the Essay
Contest. This will take place at the Flag Raising on the Green.

night, and put out again on Monday morning.
The Flag Raising ceremony will proceed in this order
