She was heartily thanked for all her efforts. She mentioned she planned, to also give us her films. of Lexington's 250th Anniversary celebration. MAY 30TH Mr. Lewis reported the four Town veterans groups had met and these were the recommendations from that meeting 1. They would like to invite all the Youth and Civic groups and organizations to participate in'the Memorial Day parade and ceremonies. We will send written invitations to these groups. 2. They would like us to invite Col. Kiley to be the guest speaker of the day. Willard Wyatt would be the next choice. 3. The American Legion will be responsible for the hosting after the ,parade._ They-=- — -- would be very willing to host the Youth groups also, in the upstairs hall, should they so desire. h. The Veterans groups feel the Memorial Day parade and ceremonies should be Baited to Lexington personnel, since our memorial services concern only Lexington people. Mr. Gaughan suggested there be less, stops in the parade, possibly just at the cemeteries. He also mentioned St. Brigid's parking lot could be utilized by any units needing the room. l_– 1 8 r Mrs. Litchfield will write to Col. Kiley to be the Memorial Day guest speaker. Mr Lewis was told about the memorial service to be held at Captain Parker's statue on May 8th at 11:00 'a.m. by the U. S. S. Lexington CV-2 'Minute Man Club members in memory of ill those who gave their lives for their country in the Battle of the Coral Seas He was asked to bring this information to the other Veterans groups. Last meeting's minutes (dated April 15th) were accepted. We received thank-you letters from the Lexington Home For The Aged for the lovely flowers used to decorate the Old Belfry Club at the April119th reception. We also• had an extremely fine thank-you letter froh Admiral Sieglaff on behalf of himself, Mrs. Sieglaff, and Lt. Smits for an exciting April 19th holiday. A letter from Mrs Pat Fax suggests that in future years, we have a two-camera team taking the movies on April 19th, and that one of these cameras be posted on the Harrington Read corner/end of the reviewing stand. All bills for our April 19th activities were authorized to be paid at this meeting. Mrs. Morey suggested we have available a parlor of some type for the ladies after the April '19th luncheon, since they have a considerable wait until parade arrival. Mrs. Gaughan suggested we make arrangements to have the ladies remain at the luncheon site over an extra cup of coffee, thus giving them a chance to relax. Mr Healy said that the name of the old gentleman who marched past the Reviewing Stand was a Mr William Chenbach, 5 Hancock Avenue, Lexington. He looked tired marching by, j and it was agreed we had better see to it that these elderly citizens are driven, if they are to be in the parade Mr. Chenbach is a Spanish War veteran. Mr. Healy mentioned the possibility of -giving lunch to the members of the Spirit Of '76. It was agreed this would set a policy that might eventually involve too many people, and therefore it was deemed unwise. 185 Mrs Litchfield will send thank-you letters to the following The two nen who handled the public address system and their Commanding Officer Paul Mazzarell of Public Works Department Lt Corr of the Police Department Mrs. Moyle, the reception caterer Douglas Maxner, the leader of the Spirit Of '76 The Old Belfry Club The Historical Society Major Kent's Office Bart Murphy for communications - a copy to go to Arthur Burrell The Elks, for assisting us on the Green on Sunday afternoon Donald Guiler, our Chief Marshal, for a job well done He will be advised his report has been received and accepted, and placed in the Corresponding Secretary's files.
