HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-02-25-TCC-min.pdf 15 ! 1 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE February 25, 1965 PRESENT Chairman Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Sperdute, Mr. Healy, Mr. DiGiammarino, and Mrs Hail VISITORS Chief of Police Rycroft Chairman of Board of Fire Commissioners, William Fitzgerald Chairman of Board of Selectmen, Lincoln Cole APRIL 19th Mr Barnes announced that this year's Chief Marshal will be Donald Guiler. Chief Rycroft Suggested that Rider Dawes arrive in Lexington and leave, and not await Paul Revere. Too much confusion otherwise. He felt that judging the floats ahead of time was fine. He noted that there has been too much distance between the dignitaries riding in the cars and the parade itself, and suggested having a few stops in order to pull the parade together. Chairman Fitzgerald He will try to keep to no more than twelve towns participating in the parade with their engines, though he felt it was difficult to limit the number, because of the Mutual Aid set-up. Mr. Cole He stated that there is a possibility of a World's Fair to be held in Boston in 1975. The Town Celebrations Committee voted to give the Bedford Militiamen $100.00. It also voted to invite the Salem Rockettes to participate. Mr. DiGiammarino announced that the Munroe and Adams Schools will_be_open_for-anyone's--convenience-before-the-two-parades - - - en April 19th. Mr. Healy checked with Anthony's Restaurant on Waltham Street, and a roast turkey luncheon will be served the Fort Devens men. Mr. Healy asked for a change in menu from previous years (Beef Stew) as per request. Mr. Sperduto was asked to check with Mr. Maxner, to see to it that the costumes of the Spirit of '76 are cleaned for the 19th. Mr Barnes read a letter from the Selectmen stating that they had added $1500.00 to the Town's budget, to be approved at Town Meeting. The Selectmen will appoint a committee for the World's Fair Lexington Day. The $1500.00 was added to the Town Celebrations Committee's budget request specifically.
