1 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
February 25, 1965
PRESENT Chairman Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr Sperdute,
Mr. Healy, Mr. DiGiammarino, and Mrs Hail
VISITORS Chief of Police Rycroft
Chairman of Board of Fire Commissioners, William Fitzgerald
Chairman of Board of Selectmen, Lincoln Cole
APRIL 19th Mr Barnes announced that this year's Chief Marshal
will be Donald Guiler.
Chief Rycroft Suggested that Rider Dawes arrive in Lexington and
leave, and not await Paul Revere. Too much confusion otherwise.
He felt that judging the floats ahead of time was fine. He noted
that there has been too much distance between the dignitaries
riding in the cars and the parade itself, and suggested having a
few stops in order to pull the parade together.
Chairman Fitzgerald He will try to keep to no more than twelve
towns participating in the parade with their engines, though he
felt it was difficult to limit the number, because of the Mutual
Aid set-up.
Mr. Cole He stated that there is a possibility of a World's
Fair to be held in Boston in 1975.
The Town Celebrations Committee voted to give the Bedford
Militiamen $100.00. It also voted to invite the Salem Rockettes
to participate.
Mr. DiGiammarino announced that the Munroe and Adams Schools

Mr. Healy checked with Anthony's Restaurant on Waltham Street,
and a roast turkey luncheon will be served the Fort Devens men.
Mr. Healy asked for a change in menu from previous years (Beef
Stew) as per request.
Mr. Sperduto was asked to check with Mr. Maxner, to see to it
that the costumes of the Spirit of '76 are cleaned for the 19th.
Mr Barnes read a letter from the Selectmen stating that they had
added $1500.00 to the Town's budget, to be approved at Town
Meeting. The Selectmen will appoint a committee for the World's
Fair Lexington Day. The $1500.00 was added to the Town
Celebrations Committee's budget request specifically.
