TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
January 21, 1965
PRESENT Vice Chairman Gaughan (presiding), Mrs. Litchfield,

Campfire Girls This group will march in the Sunrise Parade, but is
not yet decided upon entering a float in the afternoon. They will
let us know. _
Rainbow Girls This group will enter a Drill Team in both parades,
plus a float in the afternoon parade. There will be girls riding
on this float. This committee said it would try to keep the float
and Drill Team ,together, though no promises were made.
Demolay Boys This group will march in both parades, and hope to
have a float in the afternoon parade. They will let us know by
mid-February They will also let us ,know if the Demolay Sweetheart
will ride in a convertible or on their float. The Demolay Boys
questioned the registering and insuring 'of the, vehicles which
bear the floats, and Mr. Gaughan referred them ,to -Otis Brown
-- - Insurance Agency for—thatt information-.
Boy Scouts The scouts will march in the Sunrise parade. They are
not interested in float participation. They would like to see some
sort of recognition for their Eagle Scouts, perhaps to be introduced
at the Green ceremonies The Eagle Scouts prefer to march with
their own units. Mr. Cooper agreed to act as liason between the
Boy Scouts and this committee. Mr. Cooper agreed to check with the
Sea Explorers concerning the raising of the Flag.
Lexington Youth Baseball Mr. Wyman announced his boys would
march the entire parade} route, and that he would probably select
a representative group from each team, since his boys number five-
$undred and forty.

Countryside Bible Chapel Mr. Lyon announced they would eater a float
in the afternoon parade, and that very possibly the Brigades at
Countryside and Grace Chapels will march in the Sunrise parade.
This year's parade theme was given to the groups. The float appli-
cations should go out, ?hopefully, by mid-February The fudging
policies, set up by the sponsoring Chamber of Commerce, will be
on the applications sent out to float participants.
Mr. Gaughan suggested that all units be in place •by 6:45 a.m. on
April 19th for the Sunrise parade, in order to avoid last minute
congestion.
Mr. Gaughan asked that the name of the personorpersons responsible
for the group's float be on the float application to facilitate
communications.
This committee agreed to send rosters to the followings
20 - Campfire Girls
-10 - Demolay Boys
6 - Rainbow Girls
24 - Boy Scouts
10 - Lexington Youth Baseball
6 - Countryside Bible Chapel Brigade
Mrs. Litchfield will write to the following groups, inviting them
to participate in the afternoon parade
