TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
June 16, 19611
LUNCHEON MEETING•
The Town Celebrations Committee, past and present, and the
Selectmen, past and present, met at the Battle Green Inn in
Lexington Center to fete General Charles H. Terhune upon his
transfer from E. S D At Hanscom Field to Wright Field in
Dayton, Ohio, and to discuss Fall business of this committee.
The group presented the general with a pair of pewter mugs,
quite distinctive because of their glass bottoms. He and
Mrs. Terhune were delighted with them. The General spoke
most appreciatively of his activities in and his friends in
Lexington. He also invited those present to attend the
Change of Command Ceremony at the Base en July 15th at
9 30 A.M. A parade would precede this ceremony.
Commander Barrere will replace Col. Willcox as Base Commander,
the General announced. His own replacement will be
Major General John W O'Neill. General O'Neill was
General Terhune's Deputy at the Pentagon in 19117 and 1948.
He is in his middle follies, and a most pleasant person to know.
Our relations with Hanscom and the Electronic Systems Division
should go right along with present policies.
The luncheon, which commenced at noon, was delicious, and the
meeting closed at 1 30 p.m. These present were
