TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
May 28, 1964
PRESENT Chairman Barnes, Mrs. Litchfield, Mr. Healy, Mr Rudd,
Mr. DiGiammarino, Mr. Sperduto, Mrs. Hall
MEMORIAL DAY
Mr. McKey of the Pollen Church has agreed to take the Rev. Bartlett's
place, and he hopes to be a part of the ceremony at the Munroe Cemetery.
He plans to drop out after that because of earlier cemmittments.
The parade will stop for a brief ceremony in front of the plaque which
is just beyond the Buckman Tavern, rather than in front of the
building itself.
Mr. DiGiammarine reported that the Lexington High School Band will
try very hard to have a hymn ready for the Munroe Cemetery exercises.
Mr. Healy reported that the Scouts will carry the wreathes and place
them at the appropriate places.
The 3rd Rocket Battalion of the National Guard is expected to
assemble at the Munroe School, as per instructions written them a
while back by Mrs. Litchfield.
Mr. Rudd will speak to the Minutemen, asking them to space their
playing with that of the High School Band.
There will be two buses, at $18.00 per bus, to transport people to
Westview Cemetery and back to Munroe School. Mr. Edmunds of
Middlesex & Boston made these arrangements with Mr. Healy.
Mr. Sperduto will call the Costume Service Center in Boston, and speak
with a Mr. Muri Daniels concerning the wig for Mr. Maxner. He will
check to see if the bill for $5.00 has been paid twice, or just what
has transpired concerning said wig.
Mr. Sperduto spoke to Mr. Welch of the Minuteman Freedom Committee
alerting him and the group to possible participation in our United
Nations Day celebrations.
Mr. Rudd will look into possible insurance covering us in the event
any marching units had damage to their instruments, especially drums,
from unexpected rain or snow.
Mrs. Litchfield has reserved the Selectmen's office for June 4th and
the office above it for June 11th.
There were no bills tonight.
Copies of the minutes of May 7th and May 21st will be sent to Mr Cole,
Mrs Beardsley and Mr Gaughan.
