Litchfield, Mrs Beardsley, Mrs. Bayle GUESTS Mr. George Mederks ,and Mr. Healy LIONS CLUB ROAD RACE Mr. Mederiros stated that he believed that the race had been omitted from the official program. He also suggested that the race should be held later in the day. This would have to be cleared with the Chief of Police. He thanked Mr Barnes for attending the race. The question arose as to who was responsible for the publicity concerning the road race. Mrs. Beardsley pointed out that the various organizations who were responsible for special events did their own publicity. It was also suggested that the winners of the race should be announced from the reviewing stand at the parade. MEMORIAL DAY Gen. McGonagle has accepted for Memorial Day. He is to be invited to march if he wishes to do so. Major Kent has informed us that he cannot send a unit as all are committed. Mrs. Litchfield will write to ask for a unit for Veterans Day, November 11th. Linn Village will let us know definitely next Tuesday. The Minute Men have two drums and a fife for cadance if they are needed. It was agreed to ask the Spirit of 976 to march. The Girl Scouts have supplied the names of the wreath bearers. The Campfire girls will let us know. The High School band would like to have a copy of the Marching order Mrs. Litchfield will write to Mr. Handley and Mr. Bartlett asking them to assemble at 9.45 for the parade at 10:00. Mrs. Beardsley will try to get an article en the Church service in the paper the Thursday before the 24th. Mr. Rudd will call the First Naval District about a unit. L 112 Mr. Healy suggested all recipients of the White Tricorn hat be invited to be on the Green. It was alsosuggestedthat we contact the newsmen who live in Lexington. The Selectmen have been invited. Mr. Cole will read the Proclammation. U N. DAY U. N. Day comes on a Saturday. We will hold the ceremonies involving the schools on Friday and have the flag-raising on Saturday. Mrs. Litchfield will invite all the organizations that participate to meet with us two weeks from May 7th, including the Elks Mrs. Beardsley will write an article for the Minuteman inviting all interested groups to meet with us on the same night. Mr. DiGiammarino will check on the location of the flags again. Harrington is the school for the tree-planting this year. We will notify them early in September. Father Murphy is the clergyman.
