TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
April 30, 1964

CORRESPONDENCE.
Bills for the 19th of April were okayed by the committee for
Mrs. Litchfield to pay. Thank you letters will be written by
Mrs. Litchfield to Brigham's, Janet Semonian, Jim Douglas with
his payment for the photography, the Park Department, Fire
Department, Police Department and two offices at Hanscom Field,
Public Information and Protocol.
Mr. Barnes announced that Maurice Healy had been appointed to this
committee by the Board of Selectmen to replace Mr. Fenske who has
resigned. Mr. Fenske expressed his regret at leaving the committee,
and his enjoyment of the year's service.
MEMORIAL DAY
Mrs. Litchfield will call Mr. Healy when she receives answers to her
invitations to Memorial Day services and the parade. She will write
the clergy inviting them to participate in the wreath-laying
ceremonies. Father Murphy will be asked to go on the trip to
Westview; Rev. Handley and Rabbi Rosenbloom will be invited to
participate in the remainder of the duties. Mr. Healy will assign
them different stops in the parade after they have accepted.
Mr. Healy announced that the Church of our Redeemer will be the church
for Memorial Sunday services the Sunday before Memorial Day, at 11 a.m.
Some groups will bring their colors and place them. Pews will be set
off for-them-by-Rev:Handley.
The committee reviewed the roster. No Girl Scout will be needed at
Westview. One Girl Scout can act as a leader to guide the wreath
laying of the four other girls Mr. Healy will instruct her.
Mr. Barnes informed Mr. Healy that the Spirit of '76 should only be
in the parade of the Military Organizations Committee so desired,
depending also upon Mr. Maxner's availability.
The services at Munroe Cemetery will be as follows

Sons of Union Ritual by the women
Invocation
Eulogy by George Foster (Civil War Ritual)
Gettysburg Address by High School Junior or Sophomore
Hymn by Band

The parade assembles at the rear of Munroe School. Flags have been
delivered to the American Legion, Marine Corps League, and the
V.F.W. Mr. Healy gave the bill to Mrs. Litchfield.
Mr. Healy will order the grave markers as Registrar of Veterans
Graves, and not out of Memorial Day Funds. He will take care of
the speaker's stand - we will take care of the public address
system, the band, and the music.
The collation will be at the American Legion Stanley Hill Post #38
as in previous years. The National Guard Armory will be
considered for next year. The busses will remain for the morning
in case of need.
Mr. DiGiammarino will check with Mr. Gillespie or Mr. White of the
High School Music Department for the music of the day.
Rosters and programs for the day will be made up by this committee.
APRIL 19th.
Mr. Gaughan has a call from the Holy Name Band in Roxbury thanking
the committee for the privilege of playing in the parade, and asked
to be considered for next year.
