TOWN CET.RBRATIONS COMMITTEE
April 2, 1964
PRESENT Chairman Barnes, Mrs. Litchfield, Mrs. Beardsley, Mrs. Bayle,
Mr. DiGiammarino, Mr. Sperduto, Mr. Rudd, Mr. Gaughan
GUESTS Col. Passales, Capt. Robard, Robert DiMello, William Brenchik,
Robert Brown, Maurice Healy, Capt. John Ward
Col. Passales of the Lexington National Guard Unit said that the unit
will be moving into the Armory on April 25th and the dedication, to
which the committee and their spouses are invited,will be held on
May 16th.
A Battalion will march en April 19th consisting of about 140 men. It
was suggested that Col. Passales make arrangements with Chief
Marshal Howard.
Col. Passales invited the committee to be part of the Civilian
Advisory Committee which advises him as to the use of the Armory by
outside groups.
Col. Passales will attend the luncheon, but his wife will not attend.
He will march with his unit and will join the committee on the
reviewing stand as his unit goes by.
Capt. John Ward will invite the 6th Continentals to fire on the Green.
The committee agreed to pay the cost.
The representative of the Marine Corps League, the Minute Men and the
American Legion who were present were asked to get together to go over
the list prepared by Mr. Healy, and to advise the committee as to what
they wished to de.
It was agreed that the committee would ask Major Kent to supply a
unit from the Air Force, and write to Col. Passales formally inviting
nim to send a unit to the Memorial-Day raraae.
The committee reminded the guests from the Veterans groups that
certificates of appreciation are available, and they should let us
know what units are going to get the certificates.
COMMITTEE BUSINESS
It was agreed to invite Representatives Bocko and Brox, and the
Chief Marshal and his wife to luncheon.
The Chairman of the Concord Board of Selectmen cannot come to luncheon.

Mr. Barnes received a letter from William P. Brenchik requesting
$50.00 instead of the usual $75.00, because they will be
entertaining fewer units this year.
Norwich reported that they would like to come, but they have to be
put up at Devens. They will not need a noon meal. It was agreed
that we would pay them an additional $100.00 making a total of
$300.00.
Mrs. Litchfiels reported that the shuttle bus has been arranged.
She will call John Ward and check on the wreath for Fiske Hill
Ceremony.
Ft. Devens has no marching unit available.
The committee agreed that we will pay $50.00 to the Reading Police
Association.
Mr. Fenske will ask David Packard to do the signs, since the High
School Art Department will not.
Mrs. Beardsley reported that there was a problem about Lady
Lexington dressing. It was suggested that she could use the room
reserved at the Battle Green Inn.
An inquiry was received from Mitre asking if a reporter from the
Jr. Scholastic could cover the celebration. It was agreed that he
could come to all functions open to the general public only.
Mrs. Litchfield will write ti Mr. Hanley about the Belfry Bells and
to the ether ministers.
Mr. Fenske reported that the liquid refreshments for the reception
have been obtained in greater quantity and for a slightly lower price
that last year.
Mr. Gaughan will check out the sound equipment on the green with the
Hanley Sound Equipment Company. He also reported that it would cost
$85.00 for the material to cover the reviewing stand.
The Rester for the morning parade was gone over.
The Marshal's supplies of arm bands should be checked to see how many
they are short. The committee is short one.
The minutes of the meeting for )Avch 2nd were accepted, after sub-
stituting the name of Gaughan for Fenske under the heading "Song Fest."
