TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
March 12, 1961
PRESENT Chairman Barnes, Mrs Litchfield, Mr. Rudd, Mrs. Bayle
COMMITTEE BUSINESS
Acceptances were received from the following Rear Admiral
William B. Sieglaff, His wife and aide; Col. C Wilcox Jr. and
wife; Major Gen. C. H. Terhune Jr., his wife and aide;
Brig. Gen. 0. J. Glasser, his wife and aide.
The Coast Guard will not be able to participate.
A letter from Clifford Hunt was received informing us that the
Antique Cars will be available.
A letter was received from the American Legion setting forth their
plan for Memorial Day and requesting further instruction from the
committee. Mr. Barnes will draft a letter for Mrs. Litchfield to
send to the Commanders of all Veteran's groups, asking them to
send a representative to our next meeting on March 19th. He will
also inform them of the Certificates of Appreciation which are
available for them to send to units that they invite to participate.
Mr. Barnes will notify the Chief Marshal of a letter from John Ward
extending an invitation to the Head of the Minutemen in New York.
It was decided to choose the Beef Stew menu at Anthony's for the
lunch that is to be provided to participants in the parade.
Mr. Barnes will contact Mr. Cooper about the role of the Eagle
Scouts in the morning parade.
Mr. DiGiammarino should contact Mr. StanmrMarshman in regard to
a photographer for the parade.
The suggestion will be passed on to the Chief Marshal that the
Police Chief would like the Fire Engines to go out over Worthern
Road instead of on Massachusetts Avenue because of the traffic
problem.
INVITATIONS
After an examination of the amounts the committee had already
committed itself to spend for bands and marching units, it was
decided that Mrs. Litchfield issue the following invitations to
participate Holliston Drum and Bugle Corps; Lowell Technological
Institute R.O.T.C. Pershing Rifles; Dedham Drum and Bugle Corps
(transportation $35.00 and donation $50.00); St. Mary's of the

Annunciation Drum and Bugle Corps ($100.00); Grotto Oriental
Marching Unit. The latter is to be informed that the float
cannot be with the marching unit.
Mrs Litchfield will also write to Winchester that we would be
glad to have a unit of Rainbow girls, but it us not our policy to
pay for participation.
Mrs Litchfield will extend an invitation to the luncheon, the
parade and the reception to Col Charles Passales and his wife.
It was agreed to defer to a later date the setting of a •time •for
the ceremony on the Green on April 19th.
