TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE

PRESENT Chairman Barnes, Mr. Penske, Mrs. Litchfield (briefly),
Mr. Sperduto, Mr. IDiGiammarino, Mrs. Beardsley and
Mrs. Bayle
The minutes of the meeting on February 6th were accepted.
The minutes of the meeting on February 13th were corrected to read,
"Mr. Fitzgerald is willing to be in charge of the Fifth Division"
and accepted.
GUESTS Mr. Robert DiMello, Lexington Marine Corps League
Mr. Maurice Healy, Director of Veterans Benefits and
Services representing the American Legion
Mr. Kingston L. Howard, Chief Marshal of the April 20th parade
Mr. Barnes explained the committee policy that the Veterans Groups
would be responsible for Veterans Day and Memorial Day observances as
before, but the committee would stand ready to assist them and help
where they can.
After a discussion of what the procedure had been inthe Hast, it was
decided that the committee would send a letter to the Commanders of
the Veterans groups asking them to appoint a member to serve on a
joint committee to plan Armistice Day. There representatives are to
meet with the Town Celebrations Committee two weeks from today -
February 26th.
Mr. Healy informed the committee that he has already purchased and
payed for the flags out of the 1963 budget.
Mr,DiMello-informedthe-committee that the-Marine-Corps-League-does
not plan to invite other detachments to the parade this year. They
will have a collation after the parade for men who come from the
Naval barracks.
Mr. Howard was notified of the acceptances the committee had already
received and will be notified of future acceptances.
Mr. Howard suggested that the Commanders of the Veterans organizations
be supplied with "certificates of appreciation" to be enclosed with
the invitations to the Veterans groups for this year.

Mr Sperduto reported that he had been in touch with Doug Maxner;
there was some problem about obtaining the fife player, and
Mr. Maxner would like to discuss this with the committee.
Mr. Howard suggested that the committee should take charge of all
the uniforms and equipment of the "Spirit of '76." Mr. Sperdut•
will try to get the other two uniforms. It was suggested that the
committee might buy three new wigs and" some beards this year.
Mr. Maxner should be advised that it is his duty to watch his pace
and keep the parade in sight.
Mr. Fenske reported that the M. I. T. band is not available this
year. The Old Belfry Club has been arranged. The transportation
and car signs are being taken care of. He will check again oh the
Rotary Ball.
Mrs. Beardsley reported that she has contacted the Governor's
office. They are not settled as to the date. She will contact
John Rutherford as to the publicity for the guides and maps.
Mr. DiGiammarino reported that he will preview a series of 8 mm.
film shot by a new photographer to see if he is suitable
Mr. Sperduto also reported that he has contacted Mr. Noyes and
that the historic houses will be open with the usual admission
charge. Mr. Sperduto will contact the caretaker of Buckman Tavern
directly.
Anthony's Restaurant has raised their prices and the various menus
and prices were discussed.
It was announced that the Fiske Hill ceremony will *be at 2 •'clock
on the 12th of April. The committee is invited to attend.
Mr. Barnes was appointed Chief Marshal of the morning parade. He
will appoint his Division Marshals next week.
