Fire Commissioner William Fitzgerald; Police Chief Rycroft CORRESPONDENCE. Athol High School Band accepts for April 20th parade. Woburn High School Band accepts for April 20th parade. The League of Women Voters have decided to invite foreign students on Sunday, April 19th, for dinner and activities en the Battle Green. Mrs. Ratcliff Mildram has thirty Girl Scouts coming from Lewiston, Raine, on the 20th, and would like Lexington to help take care of them. We will try to work out details of places for them. Mxs Mildram is from Bedford. FIRE DEPARTMENT Mr. Fitzgerald will be in charge of the 5th Division of the parade. They will make the same hosting arrangements as before. They expect the same equipment to be in the parade as last year. POLICE DEPARTMENT Chief Rycroft expects to have the usual number of extra policemen on duty the 20th. About ten outside policemen are hired and members of the Civil Defense are used also. They expect a crowd of around 40,000 for an ordinary parade. Mr. Rudd will meet with Chief Rycroft co ea aucs Lhe—traffic traffic—patterns—forr the day. The Police—DepartmenL act as hosts for their own and outsiders at the Police Station. FALMOUTH BAND. According to Mr. Tarbox, this band is run by a boosters organization in Falmouth who would like a donation for the organization to bring the band here. The Committee voted to send them a donation of $50.00, but as they are recent entrants, we would not be able to pay all their transportation costs from Falmouth. INVITATION TO THE PRESIDENT Mr. Sperduto asked that an invitation be sent to the President of the United States. The committee so voted, noting that this had been done in the past only on special 19th celebrations, but feeling that this would be appropriate. If he came, all security details would be taken care of by the Federal Government. 86 The new Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Rudolph J. Fobert will be invited to the Sunday ceremonies on the Battle Green. Mrs. Litchfield said the office of Mayor Collins had called asking when we were celebrating the 19th, and that they would like the publicity information for their program from Mrs. Beardsley early in March. CHECK LIST Mr. Rudd informed the committee that float applications are in the process of being run off and that he had one request from the Elks. Mrs. Litchfield will call the 4—H Horse Team to see if they are entering the morning parade. She will send the invitations to the distinguished list of guests. Mr. DiGiammarine has checked out the High School Cafeteria, but is still not sure about someone to take movies. Mr. Sperduto will check Anthony's this week for a price and menu. At the ?equest of the Minute Men, the committee voted to invite1the British Consul General. There will be no meeting on February 20th, and the following week, the committee will meet on Wednesday, February 26th, due to Candidates Night on the 27th. Audrey Beardsley Recording Secretary
