HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-10-31-TCC-min.pdf 69 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE October 31, 1963 Present at the sixth meeting of the 1963-64 Town Celebrations Committee were Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Beardsley and Messrs Gaughan, Barnes and Fenske Mrs Litchfield reported she has not yet had an CORRESPOND- answer from Fitchburg about their transportation fee ENCE She will write the Lynn Village Band that final arrange- ments will be made after the 1st of January She will also write and thank Mr Goodridge of Hancock School, and the High School Assembly Committee for their excel- lent programs on UN Day Mrs Beardsley will write Mr Buck of the high school and Curt Priest and Stefan Filipowski for their Camera Club work at the UN Assembly The budget for 1964 is due Nov 1 After dis- BUDGET cussion the committee agreed to ask for $4500 as before the 250th If Veterans Day and Memorial Day are included in this committee's domain, that will come under a separate budget Mr Barnes felt that the 3 programs went very UN DAY well, and had the following suggestions to make : a Morning program the participating groups stand closer for the flag raising ceremony at the Green b The committee should review the check list and include details of steps taken to organize UN Day Mr Barnes said we should hear from the First APRIL 19 Performance Co, in Nov as to whether "They Nobly Dar'd" will be produced again this April Mr Fenske-will-contact- -Mr— Gillespie -about-the — — children' s band program on the Green Sunday with the Linn Village Band Mr Gaughan mentioned the crowded Green at the morning parade He felt that rather than exclude any children from the parade, a semi-circular grouping rather than the straight lines, with 8 or 10 Division Aides for direction would help the situation According to Mrs Litchfield' s records she con- tacted the Armed Forces Rands last year before Nov 10, and the ROTC bands later in the month She will write Fort Devens, 1st Naval District, and the Air Force Drum & Bugle at once Norwich, Northeastern and Tufts later in the month. 70 Mrs Beardsley will contact Mrs Louise Baker Macomber to see if she will type minutes of the last 3 years for the permanent records • The Committee will meet again December 5.
