It was also agreed to further investigate the bills received from March caterers for the firemen and another for the hosting of the fire chiefs since these were much in excess of last year' s bills and no authorization was given for the increased expenditure. Morning Parade APRIL 19 It was suggested it would be helpful if a mobile unit with a Y.A. system was ready at 6 :30 a.m. to get morn- ing parade in line. It was agreed that the morning parade must keep moving if it is to finish by 8 :30. The Spirit of '76 started late and was too close to the Marshal If the Spirit of '76 is to be so close in the future the High School Band should be further back It was suggested that the bands were not well spaced. The difficulty is due to the large numbers who jnin the parade at Munroe School 1 The bands should be placed side by side on the Green if the conductor is going to conduct them all 48 It was suggested th t the service on the Green could be shortened if the introduction of the adults was eliminated Each child participant would be accom- panied by an adult escort The possibility of a pancake breakfast after the Parade was suggested Luncheon: It was agreed that the Battle Green facilities are not adequate It was suggested that in future years the Committee use Anthony' s function room for the reception as well as the luncheon. Afternoon Parader Sid Ballou stated that it was most helpful that he be in on the planning so that he could pass on policy decisions The fact that St Anthony' s used canned music and the B.0 12th Pershing Rifles did maneuvering was criticized, as was the presence of a horse in the Afternoon Parade. Favorable comment was heard on the dog participants The Receiving Stand should have something to keep children off The wire that was knocked down by a float held up a division. In future years float applications should be more specific on dimensions It was suggested that more speakers would be desirable Sirens were to close to the Arlington Band. Anniversary Ball : The question was raised as to whether we should continue to sponsor the Ball It was agreedthat we should at- tempt to establish a liaison with the National Guard. Unit that will be in the Lexington Armory with a view to making it a military ball. Reception: It was agreed that in future years the ball will be instructed not to start serving until a member of the committee is present to tell them to serve. This year a great many more people were served than had been contracted for due to a misunderstanding as to an in- vitation issued to the staff of a National Guard Unit. I i 49 Suggestions for.
