TOWN CELEBRATIONS COAMITTEE

March 14, 1963
The eighteenth meeting of the 1962-63 Town
Celebrations Committee was held and present were Mrs
Litchfield , Mrs Fox, Mrs Bayle and Messrs. Howard,
Gilman, DiGiammarino and Rudd.
Minutes of the meeting of March 7 were accepted
as submitted.
Acceptances were received from the followings CORRESPOND-
C L. Harding, Rear Adm , U.S. Coast Guard and wife ENCE
James J. Long, Sen. , 7th Middlesex District
Mayor Edward A Crane of Cambridge for lunch
1st Naval. District Band, transportation and meal
18th U.S Army Band and a marching unit and color guard
Mrs. Litchfield will write to ask if any meal ar-
rangement need be made.
Tufts University Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps,
2 drill teams will come
The Anthony Hunt Hamilton militia band will come for
$15. transportation and $50. donation Mrs Litch-
field will extend to them an official invitation.
Mrs Litchfield. was requested to write to the U S. Coast
Guard in New London to request a U. S. Coast Guard
band. A copy of this letter will be sent to Rear
Admiral Harding
The Belles and Bellettes of St Mary' s have expanded
their unit and now request $175. It was agreed to
defer action on this until we get our appropriation.

Mary Lou Touart is working for the 250th Mrs PUBLICITY
Fox and she will draw up a schedule of nnhllety
Lincoln Cole visited briefly. GUESTS
Mrs. Robert Saunder of the Campfire Girls wanted
information on the morning parade She was informed of
times and position She will contact Mrs Bayle on how
many Rosters she will need.
Mr Neil Cronin took orders for plates from the
committee His sale of them is going very well
It was agreed. that this year we would supply the APRIL 19
paper for the Rosters and the High School would do the
printing Mrs Bayle and Mr DiGiarimarino will work to-
gether on this It was also agreed that we would print
about 250

Mr Howard stated that he would like a notice
placed in the Minute Man that the final organization of '
the morning parade will take place March 21 Mrs
Litchfield will contact all youth organizations with
whom we have had no contact thus far and invite them
to the meeting on March 21.
OFFICIAL Mr Joseph Rooney joined the meeting as a re-
TOWN FLAG presentative of the Marine Corps League He reported
that the League wished to be part of the 250th Anniver-
sary other than just participating Their idea is to
present an official flag of Lexington to the Selectmen
1 at the ceremony on the Green on the 19th They have the
approval of the Board of Selectme, Ultimately, they
hope to have one for each public building in Lexington
The committee unanimously agreed that this would be a
great contribution to the Anniversary
Tickets to "They Nobly Dar'd" :
Mr Raymond Lewis came in to report on sales of tickets
He and Fred Jones, treasurer of the production, will be
combined business managers of the musical drama
Mrs Lewis also reported that the American Legion
is planning to run an exhibit of military items dating
from the Revolution through Korea in the Legion Hall,
Saturday and Sunday of the celebration from 2-5 :00 p m.
He asked that the Legion Department Commander and State
Commander be invited to the reception following the
parade
Miscellaneous Details on the 19th:
Mrs Fox will let the Lions know the head sizes of new
committee members for tricorns Mr Howard will give
the Historic Guides authority to rent books Mrs Fox
will call Mrs Ritchie to ask her to represent Grace
Chapel at next week' s meeting Mrs Fox will write for
copies of the Governor's Proclamation
Mr Howard reported that the Chamber voted to CHAMBER
set up an additional information center at Woburn St OF
in a trailer, and that our committees can use this as COMMERCE

this could also be used for CD communication during the
parade
