HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-01-31-TCC-min.pdf 7 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE January 31, 1963 Representatives of the principal participants in the four-day celebration met with the Committee in Estabrook Hall and reported on progress and activities Color films of the last April 19 Parade taken by the Air Force were shown. The Town Celebrations Committee then met jointly JOINT with the 250th Anniversary Committee MEETING A motion to co-sponsor the Pre-theatre party planned for April 17 was passed unanimously Mr Parks reported for his committee that souvenir tickets for the musical drama were decided upon The price will be $2 20 including tax for re- served seats and $1 65 for all other seats It is ex- pected that the sale of refreshments and the booklet will cover the cost of the two performances The question of a possible third performance was left open. The Elks are to decide shortly whether they will take over the sale of the Commemorative Plates The Girl Scouts will be usherettes at the dance The Committee on publicity has decided upon rear window strips for cars Mrs. Litchfield was to check to see when the money appropriated by Town Meeting would be available. Mr Parks explained that the Space & Industry Expositio to be held at the school gym will be the sole responsibility of the Chamber of Commerce who will handle all details including staffing and financing The 21 Lexingtons will be notified of the Cele- bration The question of exhibits from them and the Arts and Crafts Society has not yet been finally de- cided upon Librarian Karl Nyren will contact the State House Librarian on the question of what is available for exhibit here There will be exhibits both at Cary and the State House It was agreed that the theme "They Nobly Dar'd" would be used throughout the celebration where appropriate The joint session was terminated at this point All members of the Committee were present T C. 0 MTG. S Mrs. Litchfield will write to invite Lynn Vil- lage to the afternoon parade An invitation to participate will be sent to the Dedham Drum and Bugle Corp and St Anthony' s March- ing Unit Mrs Litchfield was authorized to answer Mr Hunt' s letter suggesting that he confine his invitations to the same Clubs that participated last year at no ex- pense to the Committee.
