TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
January 24, 1963
The twelfth meeting of the Town Celebrations
Committee for 1962-63 was held with Mrs Fox, Mrs
Litchfield, Mrs Bayle and Mr Barnes present Since
we did not have a quorum present at this meeting, no
votes were taken.
Mrs Litchfield stated that she did not send. CORRESPOND-
any invitations as she would like to consult with Mr ENCE
Howard further as to their content
The following acceptances to appear in the
Parade have been received Maynard High School Band,
Fitchburg High School, Northeastern Pershing Rifles
Marching Unit will send an I.D R team The ROTC Band
had a previous engagement Athol High School replied
that they will give us a final decision in April The
Hayden group will do what they have done in other years
in the morning and afternoon parades The Rainbow Girls
Drill Team will march in the morning and afternoon Parade
Mrs Litchfielddid not write to Lynn Village
as she heard they had been invited by the 250th Committee.
Mr Denphy of the P.0 in Boston would like a
letter from the 250th on its own stationery giving
events Mrs Litchfield will notify Mr Parks
Mrs Litchfield has heard from Fleepo, the Clown,
who would like to participate again and will try to come
to the February 7 meeting
Chief Rycroft could not attend as he was ill GUESTS
He has been tentatively asked appear February 7
Fire Commissioner Wm P Fitzgerald was present
IIe stated that he will try to get a Fire Department Band
for the Parade Cambridge or Newburyport were suggested,
also Kingston or W Warwick, R. I Mr Fitzgerald also
suggested that the Boston Drill Team was quite spectacu-
lar and he will try to find out if they would be avail-
able and the fee if any Mr Fitzgerald suggested that
it would be a good idea to keep 60 to 70 yards between
the band and cars and equipment equipped with sirens
He suggestedfloats in between Mr Fitzgerald also
stated that he would continue with the hosting of the
fire chiefs as formerly The committee expressed its
thanks to the Fire Commissioner for coming to meet with
us and for the help he has volunteered to give the com-
mittee.

Dr Howard Smith attended to advise the Committee
about a pre-theater cocktail party and buffet supper
planned for Wednesday, April 17, 1963 The committee1-7
members present were entnusiastic about the plans but
were unable to give formal approval due to lack of a
quorum Mr Barnes will contact the absent members of
the Committee to discuss this matter
REPORTS Mrs Fox reported that Mr Howard and Mr Parks
did an excellent job of presenting the Committee case
to the Warrant meeting on January 23 The only criticism
was that the slides could not be read easily.
Mr. Barnes reported that the Civil Defense Group
will try to provide one communication car for each
division of the parade Mr Barnes will also take care
of contacting the DeMolay Mrs Bayle reported that a
room has been reserved at the Battle Green Inn for the
Luncheon The Luncheon menu was discussed briefly and
agreed upon by the ladies as previously suggested by Mr
Howard
