HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-01-10-TCC-min.pdf 499 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE January 10, 1963 The Committee met at the Town Offices at 7 :45 p.m Present were : Mrs Litchfield, Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Bayle, Messrs Howard, Gilman, DiGiammarino, Barnes and Gaughan. The minutes of the meeting of Jan. 3, 1963 were accepted as read. Mr Howardreceived a letter from Col Marion CORRES- Alexander stating that the Air Force film of the parade PONDENCE will be shown at the Jan 91 meeting but without sound track. Mrs Litchfield will write to Col. Alexander and tell him that we would appreciate his bringing the pro- jector and the projectionist and also requesting that he make some introductory remarks. We close the year with a surplus of $26. which TREASURER'S will be transferred to the E & D. REPORT John Bonasera, Lincoln Cole, Ray Lewis and Joe APRIL 19 Rooney were present and assisted the committee with valuable suggestions The list of bands to be invitedwas gone over and Mrs Litchfield was requested to try to reach the Shriners Band and the Salvation Army Blind and the Camb- ridge Fireman 's Band in addition to those already on our list. It was suggested that the Committee might pay fur raruiiing units Mr Bonasera will try to get greater attendance by the American Legion Posts. He will try to give Mr Howard a list of those Posts invited last year and whether they attended . It was suggestedthat a demonstration by a Drum and Bugle Corps might be arranged for 1 :30-2 :30 p.m. on the Battle Green. Mr Rooney suggested that we try to work out the traffic bottlenecks and be sure of the route of the Parade St Brigid's and Grace Chapel parking lots were suggested. The guests were asked for suggestions for Chief Marshall They will let Mr. Howard know later. Soo Assignment Reports The Belfrey Club and the Heritage Room have been reserved. Mr Barnes and Mrs Bayle will complete arrangements for the reception and the Luncheon The ladies of the Committee will decide on the luncheon menu. The Committee agreed that 8 mm film would be satisfactory for the pictures. Mr DiGiammarino will talk with John Rutherford about the Guides He will also arrange for signs re- ferring to the washrooms at Munroe and Adams Mrs Litchfield will write to Jason Correll re our position on intertown athletic events on Patriots' Day. Mrs Bayle will find out if the LWV will continue their policy of hosting foreign students on Patriots' Day Invitations: President Kennedy will be invited for the Friday night banquet Mr Lewis suggested that a Commissioner from the Department of Interior be invited A representative of the U S.S Lexington will be • invited if they can be located. Mrs Litchfield will see about inviting an Astronaut Speaking Engagements: Speaking requests received were assigned to various members of the Committee One mem- ber of our committee will work with a member of Mr Park's committee as a team on these engagements It was suggested that the floats be mentioned to all orrranizations to whom the talks are given.
