background on our Thanksgiving service problems. Mrs

Mr Gilman spoke on the Thanksgiving service, THANKS-
saying that he feels it has significance, and purpose, GIVING
and should be carried oh.
Mr Handley agreed that it was a good thing to
stand up for an ideal, but that there are times when
we must pick and choose, and perhaps we should con-
centrate on something that is successful He spoke of
the difficulty of making a success of Memorial Day He
feels the timing of the service is not important, but
he likes the idea of trying the afternoon, and em-
phasizing the family, and. getting a speaker to speak
on his own faith He feels the Committee has done all
it can, and we have to recognize that this is another
thing in an already crowded community calendar
Suggestions of speakers were made, and Mr
Howard pointed out that we cannot afford big names, and
even on the local level we have a most difficult time
getting people
There was discussion of the proper place to
hold the Service, with Diamond, Muzzey and Estabrook
among others
H
As Mr Taylor and Mr Handley left, Mr Howard
asked if they would be disappointed if we voted to drop
the service. Mr Taylor replied that he would not
blame us if we did
