HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-03-19-TCC-min.pdf 447 March 19, 1962 In addition to the regular report submitted for publication in the 1961 Town Report, the Town Celebra- tions Committee would like to offer the following re- port to this Town Meeting: "The Board of Selectmen has appointed a 7-man subcommittee to assist the Town Celebrations Committee in planning and executing appropriate celebrations commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Incorpora- tion of Lexington as a Town Although the subcommittee has made great progress. no final plans have been reached other than that the 250th Anniversary Celebra- tion will be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, 1963 successive to our regular Patriots ' Day Cele- bration "Preliminary plans with a preliminary budget will be presented to the Special Town Meeting later this year. Final detailed plans with a final budget covering the 250 Anniversary Celebration will be pre- sented to the Annual Town Meeting in March of 1963 along with a commensurately larger appropriation re- quest from the Town Celebrations Committee "To execute a special celebration of this type, commitments will have to be made prior to the approval of the Town Celebrations Committee 's appropriation re- quest of 1963 Therefore, in making this special re- port, the Committee is seeking the approval of this Town Meeting to continue the activities of the 250th Anniversary Subcommittee. Of the $4500. sought by the Town Celebrations Committee this year, $300 will be allocated to the 250th Anniversary Subcommittee. Ap- proval of the full 4500. regnested by the Tawr C!elP_ brations Committee shall be interpreted as a vote of approval to continue the activities of the Subcommittee."
