HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-02-08-TCC-min.pdf 435 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE February 8, 1962 The Committee met at the Town Offices at 8:00 p.m. Present were : Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Litchfield and Messrs. Cobb, Howard, Douglass and Poplawski. Red Cross: car has been arranged. APRIL 19 Historic Guides : William Nowlin, representative for this group, will meet with the TCC February 15. Movies: Eric Handley will take movies of the after- noon parade. High School Cafeteria: Miles Hawley, President of Student Council, will arrange for refreshments for the high school bands, which will be paidfor by us Bunting : Universa] Decorating will give us new bunting. Bandstand: beams will be painted to avoid accidents. Wreaths : Mrs Litchfield will order wreaths for the monuments on the green, and the shuttle bus for use within the town. This will shuttle people from the Library to E. Lexington, will be available for every- one, and will be hired through the Middlesex Street Railway. Favors: placemats with Lexington scenes, notepaper, commemorative plates were suggested. Clergy: Mr. Handley will give the Invocation: still waiting to hear from Myron Fisher. who has been asked co Five the benediction. 4th Division: all invitations for this division have been sent out. Letters of acceptance : have been received by Radm Harding & Mrs Hading, (Coast Guard) ; Adm . Espe & Mrs. Espe, plus his aide and wife : Maj Gen. Verbeck and his wife. Mr. Howard continued to check off items on the list which needed to be done Mrs Fox will arrange for the no school signal; Mrs Litchfield will arrange for the church bells : Mr J Poplawski will arrange for the white tricorn hat. 436 Drum and Bugle Corps: It has been finally decided not to hold this competition. Mr Douglass will write a report on the project for future reference Junior Chamber of Commerce : The JC's are having a house decorating contest for houses along the parade route (Mass Ave. ) . Fire Engines: It has been proposed that we have re- presentative fire chiefs and engines representing the same number of towns but not with so many pieces of equipment. A motion was made and passed to allow the chairman to limit the amount of equipment in the parade. Next meeting, February 15 Next joint meeting, March 1 Linda Fernberger, Recording Secretary
