TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
October 5, 1961
The Committee met at the Town Offices at 8:00
p.m. Present were : Mrs Fox, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs
Fernberger and Messrs Gaughan, Cobb, Howard, Gilman,
Poplawski and Douglass. Also present were David Sykes,
Lexington Choral Society and Lesley Reed, Lexington
Historical Society
Mechanics about the presentation by the Choral THANKS-
Society were discussed and. arranged for with Mr. Sykes GIVING
The Chorus will sing from risers in front of the stage
rather than on it Both a piano and organ are avail-
able, and. if there is an organist available from the
membership of the Chorus, they will provide one If
not, it is felt that Mrs Sandberger should be asked
Mr Sykes and Mr Gilman will go over arrangements
several weeks ahead If possible, it will be a 3-
piece presentation Plans as of now include 2 works ;
Gustave Holtz' "All People That On Earth Do Dwell"
(4 minutes) and Aichinger's "Jubilate Deo" (2 minutes)
Mr Reed was present to try to arrange some
participation with the Lexington Historical Society
at this service, either with an historical display re-
lated to Thanksgiving in the past shown in the cases
in the High School lobby, or with the use of antique
chairs on the platform to lend an air proper to the oc-
casion Mr Reed will, see if any of this is possible
It was also suggested that programs be distributed
in all churches prior to the Service These would be
given out with the regular programs of the churches

of the Council of Churches will be invited to come dis-
cuss this at the meeting of the TCC, October 19.
The Grange flag has been found and will be dis- U.N. DAY
played in the library A color guard of 3 has been ar-
ranged for through the Marine Corps League, with Mr
Stone as bugler The Lions will present a 5 ' by 8' flag
to the town at this event, and 12 4' by 6' flags have
been ordered for display around the common, inter-
spersed with U S Flags The Park Department will be
custodian of the flags at the end of the day

APRIL 19 If there is to be a drill competition on April
19, the Drum and Bugle Corps should be contacted now.
Although there has been some reservation in the past
about this, drill teams would enable more bands, or a
drill team competition could be held after the parade
Mr Douglass will pursue this subject to the extent of
figuring out which teams would be represented, how
finances would be set up, etc He will report at the
October 26 meeting
BUDGET Miss McIntyre has requested funds for U.N
material. So far, about $65. has been spent for
literature and posters, some of which will be re-
couped from contributions from the Chamber of Com-
merce and the sale of flag kits Mrs Litchfield has
put in bills for $412 40 We now have $92. 34.
