in uniform to the Common at 7:00 a.m. This, too, will

Flags will be raised at the same time It has been
suggested that a police escort be on hand and stop
traffic at the time of the flag raising Mr Mazzerall
will take care of rigging the pole line correctly for
the 2 flags.
Mr Poplawski also reported that the Lexington
Lions Club, via Mr Bevis, has voted a sum of money
for the purchase of flags to be used by the town on U.
N Day Their maximum amount will cover 20 flags at
$9 each, or $180, with the stipulation that these be
used around the common, not in the retail district
There are 36 flags in this area, and the ratio
of 1 to 3 be used, or the actual purchase of 12 flags.
The Lions will also purchase the flag to be used on the
large flag pole
It was suggested that since the U.N is 16 years
old, one flag be purchased for each year of its activity,
with the tradition started to add one every year. After
some discussion it was voted to request 12 flags, the
same size as the U. S flag (4' x 6' ) and one flag for
the large pole also the same size as the large U S
flag, unless this large one cannot be obtained in time
Mr Poplawski will pursue this project once more.
