TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
March 30, 1961
The fourteenth meeting of the 1960-'61 Town
Celebrations Committee was held in the Selectmen' s
Room of the Town Office Building at 8:00 p.m.
Present were Mrs Fox, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Williams,
and Messrs Cronin, Cot-b, Howard, Bongiorno and Gilman.
Programs : APRIL 19
1. Hayden Recreation Centre has
mimeographed 500
p
copies of the morning parade program. They have
volunteered this service for the 1961 celebration.
2 The Girl Scouts have mimeographed 500 copies of the
morning program themselves.
3. Mrs. Kingston Howard will assist Mrs. Litchfield
with the typing of some of the invitations
Minuteman Freedom Committee : Mr Cronin, Chairman of
the Town Celebrations Committee, and Mrs Litchfield
had attended a meeting of the Minuteman Freedom Com-
mittee at which plans for entertaining the African
U.N. delegates and the extent of their participation
in Lexington's Patriots' Day celebration were detailed
Floats: Float applications were drawn by lot at this
meeting to determine float positions in the parade.
The order of the floats is as follows :
1. League of Women Voters 6 Lexington Chamber of Commerce
2. Lexington Lions Club 7. Remco Camping Trailers
3 Temple IsaiaA 6 Counzrysiae mercnan .s
4 Rotary Club 9 Lexington 4-H Clubs
5 Grace Chapel 10. Baptist Youth Fellowship
11 Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
12 Lexington Junior Chamber of Commerce
Afternoon Parade Roster: Most of the remainder of the
meeting was concerned with compilation of parade roster
information so that it could be sent to Mrs Whitney
of the "Sery-All Secretarial Service" , 1644 Mass Ave.
for typing and mimeographing of 200 copies of the
Afternoon Parade roster

Miscellaneous: Mrs Fox and Mrs Williams reported —m
that Mrs Richard Parisien had telephoned them for
permission for Mrs Parisien's dressing in an antique
Camp Fire uniform and driving one of Dr Clifford
Hunt ' s antique cars in the morning parade. Passengers
in the car would be the 10 Blue Birds of her troop and
they would precede the Camp Fire marchers in the parade
This would be done to commemorate the 50th anniversary
of Camp Fire Girls
(Mrs Fox will suggest to Mrs Parisien, by
letter, that she send in a float application for use
of the automobile in the afternoon parade, but that
vehicles are not allowed in the morning parade. )
