HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-01-28-TCC-min.pdf 287 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE January 28, 1960 The fifteenth meeting of the 1959-'60 Trw'n Celebrations Committee was held Present were Mrs Pullen, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Williams and Messrs Cole, Cobb, Bongiorno, Howard and Douglass Also present were Yr John Adzigian, Faculty Adviser to the Student Council, L H S ; Miss Nancy Ingraham, President of the Student Council Miss DeeGee Lappen, Vice-President of the Prom-Manaders and Paul Buckley, President of the Prom-Manaders Student Council Plans for entertaining the APRIL 19 visiting High School Bands after the parade were dis- cussed with the Student Council representatives 1 The Student Council offered to send follow- up invitations to the after-parade reception to High School Bands which have accepted invitations sent by the Town Celebrations Committee 2 A memento of the day was discussed Mr Adzigian offered to help the Student Council work out an idea for a souvenir for the visitors and mentioned that Fhe Student Council might possibly contribute the souvenirs 3. Mr Cobb recommended that the Student Council reserve the High Schnol Cafeteria by filling out a re- servation blank in triplicate 4 The Student Council should prepare for about 500 visitors at an expense of about twenty-five cents per person Prom-Manaders The representatives reported 1 That the Prom-Manaders are willing to have their queen be Lady Lexington for the 1060 celebration 2. That the question hal been raised by some members as to the reason for the Prom-Manaders ° float not being judged in the competition (The Committee offered the explanation that since "Lady Lexington", the Prom-Manaders ' queen, is the focal point of the parade, her float is given the distinction of being first in the parade However, the Prom-Manaders may enter their float in the competition if they are willing to be subject to the same rules as the other float entrants and have "Lady Lexington" ride in an automobile ) Mrs Litchfield reported 288 1 That Mrs Lois Burnham will ask two "Girl Scouts of the Thirties" to help with the organization of that group for the 1960 parade 2 That linen Paul Revere print towels made by "Kay Dee" Hand Prints, Hope Valley, R I , are available through Mr Sheldon S Brown, Norwood, Mass at R !LO per dozen (The Committee agreed that they would be suitable souvenirs for the ladies attending the Patriots ' Day luncheon, 1960 ) 3 That the Carlisle 4-H Horseketeers have re- quested an invitation to participate in the parade (A letter stating that at this time there is no pro- vision for horses being allowed in the parade will be sent ) 4 The First Naval District has rade its band available for the 1960 parade However, there seems to be some confusion of the Naval District mentioned participating in the Concord parade which is in the afternoon, also (The matter will be investigated ) Floats : Mr Bongiorno reported that 1C floats are al- most definitely promised 1 First Baptist Church 6 Lions Club 2 4-H (maybe Grange, also) 7 Temple Isaiah 3 Lexington Nursery(probably) 8 League of Women Voters 4 Lexington Gardens (probably) 9 Rotary Club (probably) 5 Hayden Recreational Center 10 Senior Girl Scouts Route 128 industries will be contacted b' Mr Bongiorno Georgia Williams, Recording Secretary
