The twelfth meeting of the 1959-' 60 Town Celebra-
tions Committee was held in the Selectmen' s Room of the
Town Office Building at 8 00 p.m Present were Mrs
Pullen, Williams, Litchfield and Messrs Cole, Cobb,
Douglass and Bon iorno
A letter had been received from Lila Towle and U N. DAY
Peter Arnold thanking the Committee for its part in
making possible their trip tc the United Nations in
New York
Mrs. Litchfiell reported. that Tufts University APRIL 19
Air Force Reserve Training Corps and accepted the in-
vitation to Lexington, April 19, and plans to send 70
cadets, a band, 2 drill teams and a color staff
Acceptances have been received from Ft Devens,
Tufts, Northeastern, Athol High , Woburn High, Reading
High a i Coast Guard.
B U Dept Military Science and Tactics had sent
regrets that Spring recess occurs at the time of the
parade and requests an invitation next year.
The Sons of Union Veterans of Civil Warted sent
a letter stating that their band would like to play
* 100 donation would be acceptable. Much discussion
followed
Mr. Cole read a letter from the Granite State
Highlanders Band (an offshoot of the Clan MacPherson
Kiltie Band) requesting an invitation to Lexington's
celebration
Mr Cole reco"mended that we write to the James
Dunning Shrine Band, Mummer' s Group, Philadelphia, Pa ,
to find out their terms for en appearance here.
Honored Guests : Vice President Nixon and the
Commandant of West Point, Guy Davidson, were suggested
as possible honored guests to whom invitations should
be sent immediately (Senators Kennedy and Saltonstall,
Congresswoman Rogers and Governor Furcolo should also
be invited early)
Identification of important people for people
watching the parade along the route and introductions
of important people at the reviewing stand were
stressed

Themes : "Fre glom with Justice for All" and r
"Freedom with Justice" were discussed as possible
themes for April 19.
VOTED That "Freedom with Justice" be adopted
as the theme for April 19, 1 '60
(A later suggestion, "Faith in Freedom" will be
considered before the next meeting)
Booklet : A first draft of the booklet has been
rade Mrs Pullen and Mr Cobb will continue to edit
for one week, will ask the printer for a definite es-
timate, and report hack to the Committee next week

of 1960 parade 1959 film will be located for show-
ing at next week's open meeting with organizations
