HomeMy WebLinkAbout1959-10-01-TCC-min.pdf 255 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE October 1, 1959 The third meeting of the 1959-'60 Town Celebra- tion s Committee was held in the Accountant' s Office of the Town Office Building at 8:00 p.m. Present were : Mrs . Litchfield, Mrs Williams, and Messts. G le, Cobb and Bongiorno Items of the budget were discussed. VOTED: An expenditure of $30 00 was voted for payment to Mrs.Louise Baker for recording minutes into the official book of minutes of the Town Celebration's Committee. VOTED: That copies of the minutes of each week's meetings be sent to Mr. Gustin, former chairman of the Committee VOTED That the sum of $75 00 be withdrawn from Committee funds to be used by the Corresponding Secretary for payment of incidental expenses of Com- mittee members. 1. Mr Cobb reported that the time for the U N Day tree planting ceremony at Fiske School will be at 9 :15 a m , October 23. 2. The High School United Nation's Day assembly will be held on Friday, October 23, at 10 :45 a.m 3. Mr Cobb reported that the Rotary Club will provide all money for the United Nation ' s Contest prize, a trip to New York for two winners and two chaperones Essay Contest winners will attend the October 26th Rotary Club luncheon, read their essays and will be presented, the prizes. The Rotary Club will make the necessary reservations (A letter will be sent to the Rotary Club President from this Commit- tee thanking Rotary for their leadership in assuming the responsibility of the United Nation's Essay Contest Prize, and the letter will outline the details to which the Committee expects Rotary will attend) . 4 It was recommended that a letter be sent to Mr Nason of the Cary Memorial Library reminding him of United Nation' s Day and suggest that the United Nation' s library shelf be displayed again this year 256 5 A letter should be written to Mr Maloney, r- Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, inviting him to be present at both school United Nation' s Day programs 6 A photographer will be invited to attend both school programs (Mrs Litchfield will telephone the Minute Man newspaper about this) THANKS- A letter has been written to Dr Abram Sachar GIVING of Brandeis University asking him to be speaker at Lexington' s Thanksgiving Service Georgia Williams Recording Secretary L
