TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
April 16, 1959
The twenty-fourth meeting of the 1958-59 Town
Celebrations Committee was held in the Selectmen ' s
Toom of the Town Office Building on. April 16, 1959
Present were Messrs Gustin, Cronin, Cole , Cobb,
Hutchins, Bongiorno; Mesdames Pullen, Litchfield and
Williams
Also present were Mrs Cheever and Mr Roorey,
former members of the Town Celebrations Committee; and
Mr Rycroft, Chief of Police of Lexington
Traffic problems in connection with the Patriot' s
Day Celebration were discussed with Chief Rycroft CHIEF
RYCROFT
Chief of Police Rycroft gave permission for the
Metropolitan Mounted Police, Fellsway Division, to be
at the end of the afternoon parade (Mr Hutchins re-
ported that the Boston Mounted Police would like to
participate some year. )
Mr Gustin asked Mr Bongiorno to appoint some-
one to be in East Lexington at 11 00 a.m to be in FLOATS
charge of floats as they arrive
Mr Cobb will take care of applications for the
use of Munroe and Adams schools for the early morning MORNING
parade PARADE
Mrs Cheever will have a folding chair on the
Common for this year' s tricorne hat recipient
Mr Rooney will be in charge of elementary
school children, not affiliated with a 'participating
organization, who would like to march in the parade
Mr Gustin has obtained a movie camera for PATRIOT'S
filming the events of the day DAY MOVIE
Mr Cobb and Mrs Cheever had made a script out-
line to be used by David Vogt in the making of a movie
of events in connection with Patriot' s Day, 1959
Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Cheever and Mrs Williams LUNCHEON
will be in charge of the seating arrangement at the
luncheon I
Mr Gustin will introduce "Lady Lexington" and
L her escort, the invited guests, the Selectmen and the

members of the Celebrations Committee ,
After the introduction, grace will be said
Mrs Cheever had looked into the matter of
luncheon favors and described sterling silver Minute Man
pins which may be purchased at "Anderson Jewelers" in
Lexington for ninety cents
It was voted that all of the ladies at the
VOTED luncheon. be given. Minute Man silver pins as a memento of
the occasion
Fifty-six people have been invited to be on the
REVIEWING reviewing stands . These include the Selectmen and wives ,
STAND Celebrations Committee members and wives or husbands ,
Invited Guests and wives or husbands, "Lady Lexington"
and her court, Senator and Mrs Madden and the White
Tricorne Hat recipients
Mr Cronin will inquire about chairs from
Douglass ' Funeral Home Felt arm bands and "GUEST"
ribbons are ready
RECEPTION Mr Lewis has completed plans for the reception
PUBLICITY Mrs Pullen announced 6000 programs were printed
AND Some will be placed in the library, stores, hotels, etc
PROGRAMS Each school child was given one and programs will be
given to each policeman
A display case at the Cary Library has a Patriot' s
Day exhibit Maturing a photograph. of "Lady Lexington" .
WBZ-TV plans to televise the sunrise parade and
arrival of "Paul Revere"
WBZ ( radio) will make announcements at 6 30 a.m
and 10 00 a.m in case of inclement weather
The Record plans to publish a story about Patricia
Thoren and her family ( Copies of the Boston Globe with
a front page colored photograph of Lady Lexington were
given to each Committee member 1
Mrs Litchfield will send a letter of invitation
MISCELLANEOUS to Mr Clifford P Monahon who will represent the Gov-
ernor of Rhode Island Mr Rooney will be asked to ob-
tain eight automobiles for the parade There will be a
meeting of marshals and aides at the Belfry Club, Sunday
April 19th. at 1 30 p.m The sound system will be func-
tioning as it did last year

Mr Coielmoved: and„ it-was unanimously voted,
that an expression of appreciation be made to Mr VOTE
Gustin for his outstanding leadership as chairman of
the Committee for the past year
