TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMIT'ME
February 26, 1959
The seventeenthmeeting of the Town Celebrations
Committee was held in. the Selectmen' s Room of the Town
Office Building at 8 00 p.m on February 26, 1959
Present were Messrs Gustin, Cole, Bongiorno, Cobb,
Hutchins, Cronin, and Mrs Litchfield Also present
was Mr Ray Lewis, former member of the Celebrations
Committee
Mr Gustin reported that he had spoken to the
secretary of Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge She had IMPORTANT
noted that Mr Lodge will be chairman of the Security GUEST
Council for April She will find out whether or not
he will be able to come to Lexington on April 20th
Mr Robert Rightmlre of the Salvation Army
Band ( telephone LI 2-5420) had reported to Mr Gustin BANDS
that the band expects to be able to come Mr AND
Rightmire will let Mr Gustin know definitely as soon PARADE
as possible FEATURES
St Mary' s Parish had sent a letter offering a
band for April 20th ( The letter was tabled until
the next meeting )
Mr Bongiorno had contacted V F W drill teams
from Reading and Waltham
Mrs Skinner of the Hayden Recreational Center
had sent a letter which reported that the Boys ' and
Girls ' Divisions would like to participate in both
the morning and afternoon parades as separate units
Mr Cronin will contact Mr Mel Hunt regarding
"The Spi'^it cif '761 " for the parade
Mrs Litchfield reported for Mrs Pullen that 1
she had spoken to Mr Streeter Stuart of WBZ about the
possibility of having Rex Trailer, popular TV star,
participate in the parade He would bring his horse
( There was no comment )
Mr Gustin reported that the Belfry Club is
available for luncheon for April 20th Mr Gustin will LUNCHEON
speak to Marie Muse, Caterer
Mr Lewis will contact "Exec-U-Phone Systems, LOUD
Inc " in connection with their providing a loud SPEAKER
speaker system for the day

Mr Cobb had. attended a meeting of the High
CAMERA School Camera Club They need paper for use in
CLUB sending out 5000 h.ectographed notices and rules of
CONTEST the contest to all of the school children (Mr
Gustin will obtain the paper )
