CERTIFICATE with the "Certificate of Birth. " After clearing with.
OF BIRTH the Selectmen, and talking to Town Counsel. Stevens who
felt that there was no necessity for copyrighting the
certificate because it was so peculiar to the town of
Lexington, Mr Gustin met with the Student Council .
They were receptive to the idea that the certificate
will be turned over to them for distribution after
April 19th, on the basis that donations may be sent to
their Foreign. Student Exchange Fund
The Celebrations Committee then discussed
whether or not to register the names of all persons who
receive a certificate After much discussion, Mr Cole
moved withregret that we dispense with page and line
numbers on the certificates and not record the names
This motion was carried
The distribution of Birth Certificates to citi-
zens of Lexington was discussed Mr Gustin suggested 1
that we start by reporting on the Certificate at Town
Meeting under Article 2, March 24, 1956, and present
each Town Meeting member present with. a Certificate
We will order 25,000 certificates for townspeople and
"Town Celebrations Committee" will be printed on the
bottom of the certificates Distribution through the
schools seems the most satisfactory method for getting
certificates to the largest number of people of the
town. Mr Poehler agreed to talk to Supt of Schools
Smith to ask him for permission for distributing cerfi-
ficates to school children on Thursday, April tenth A
letter will be sent to the newspaper, also, asking that
organizations request the number of copies which they
would like for their members . Copies of the Certifi-
cate will be sent to Mrs. Cannam to be sent to Boston
newspapers After April eighteenth, the Certificates
will be obtainable by making a donation to the Foreign
Student Exchange Fund of the Student Council of Lexing-
ton High School
Since only six bands have definitely accepted
invitations, Mr Lewis will send invitations to nearby
High School bands, and he will extend an invitation to
the Royal Lancers Band to participate on the same basis
as other bands
