HomeMy WebLinkAbout1958-03-13-TCC-min.pdf 1. 39 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE March. 13, 1958 The 25th meeting of the Town Celebrations Committee was held at 8 15 p.m. , March 13, 1958 in the Conference Room, Cary Memorial Hall Present were Messrs Gustin, Rooney, Lewis, Cole, and Mesdames Litchfield, Williams and Pullen Also present were Mrs LaPorte representing Girl Scouts; Mr and Mrs Colby Kelly, Bob Baptiste and Pauline Borselli representing the "Prom-enaders"; Charles Glenn representing the Student Council; Mr M A. Seabury from "The Lexington Inn"; and Miss Louella. Cannam representing "Yankee Homecoming " Proofs of programs for April 19, 1958 were passed around, and corrections were made in them. It was reported that the "Promenaders" Queen will be chosen at the Promenaderst Birthday Ball, PROMENADERS March twenty-ninth Initial publicity about the Queen will come from the Committee and the public will be welcome to come to the Ball to see the Queen chosen Mrs LaPorte reported that a prize-winning Girl Scout drum-and-bugle corps of some years ago is get- GIRL SCOUTS ting together drums, bugles and uniforms and plans to marchin the parade Mr Seabury asked whether the reception that day could be held at "The Lexington Inn" instead of LEXINGTON Cary Hall He offered the entire facilities of the INN Inn to the Celebrations Committee for use on April 19th and suaaested that we n1a^ mv-ite- Se-natcrs Saltonstall and Kennedy and Governor Furcolo to par- ticipate in the activities for the day The Com- mittee voted that we have the luncheon at "The Lex- ington Inn, " and voted that we accept Mr Seabury' s invitation to have the reception at the Inn, also Mr Murray Dearborn will be in charge of the recep- tion Invitations will be sent to the six New Eng- land governors to be guests that day Questions about securing national publicity for the 1958 Celebration were brought up by Mr Sea- bury and Miss Cannam Mrs . Pullen suggested that she act as researchperson for Miss Cannam, and send L- all news about the activities on to her Miss 140 Cannam could decide whether or not the news was of sufficient national interest to be released Mrs Pullen reported that the Lexington League of Women Voters will invite foreign students to come out to Lexington to see the parade It was voted to have Mr Gustin take up with the New England Council, the possibility of sending framed copies of the "Birth Certificates" to the governors of the forty-eight states It was also voted that bills be paid for art work and printing of the "Birth Certificates " The Town Celebrations Committee will meet next week at seven o'clock George Williams Secretary
