HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-10-17-TCC-min.pdf 109 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE October 17, 1957 The tenth meeting of the Town Celebrations Committee was held at 8 15 p.m , Octiber 17 , 1957 in the Selectmen's Room Committee members present: Messrs Gustin, Cole, Lewis; Mesdames Cheever, Pullen, Litchfield. It was voted that the corresponding secretary, Mrs Cheever, write to the clergy of all churches in town asking that they mention U N Day, October 24th at their service Mr Poehler could not be present but notified the secretary that Junior High exercises and tree TREE planting will be at 10 a m. October 24th, and Senior High exercises at 10 .45 a.m Patricia Cutter of the Senior High School asked Mrs Cheever to extend an invitation to members of committee to attend exer- cises, Mrs Hansonreported there were 13 entries for the U N contest, nine girls and four boys, and that ESSAY judges will meet next Tuesday to choose winners CONTEST Barrett Press bill for stationery, $30,25, was approved for payment Mr Warden of the Council of Churches brought a program of last year' s Thanksgiving service . Mr CHORAL Cole reported he had talked with Mr Lockwood, Presi- SOCIETY dont ot- the-Lexington-Chor--al Souioty-, -who will put the matter of the Choral Society' s participation up to his board, and will let the committee know its decision the first of next week If the Choral Society doesn' t care to partici- pate, Dr. Bandes suggested that the Junior and Senior High School Glee Clubs be asked It was voted to have the following group plan the order of service Rev Floyd Taylor for Council of Churches; Rev. George Casey for the Catholic Church; Dr Herbert Bandes for the Jewish Community Center L_ Motion was made and seconded that Mr Cole be no appointed chairman of the Thanksgiving celebration for next year, to work with clergy in planning the program.
