TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
October 10,1957
The ninth meeting of the Town Celebrations
Committee was held in the Conference Room, Cary Mem-
orial Hall at 8 15 p.m , October 10, 1957 Members
present Messrs Gustin, Poehler, Rooney, Cole, Mes-
dames Pullen, Cheever, Litchfield.
Joyce Taylor and Don Adzigian of the Junior U N. DAY
High School met with the committee to make plans for
observance of U N Day, October 24th. Mr Poehler
has talked with Mr Norlin and they will select tree
to be planted at the Junior High School.
At 9 p.m. the following representatives of the
churches in Lexington met with the committee to dis- THANKS-
cuss plans for a Thanksgiving celebration: Rev GIVING
Hogan, representing Rev George W Casey, St Brigid' s;
Mr Herbert Bandes, Jewish Comminity Group; Mr Ken-
neth L Warden, Lexington Cuuncil of Churches . Rev
Francis J Murphy of Sacred Heart Church notified
committee he could not attend, and will receive copy
of these minutes
' Mr. Warden felt the service should be a com-
munity effort, that as citizens we all had much to be
grateful for, and hoped all churches would aprtici-
pate this year.
Everyone present agreed it should be held the
Sunday evening before Thanksgiving, November 24, at
8 p.m , to last an hour Other years it has been
held in Cary Memorial Hall, and an organ had to be
rented. Mr Poehler suggested the new High Snhnnl
Auditorium which has an organ Suggestion was unani-
mously adopted, and Mr Poehler will make application
Mr Poehler suggested Judge Felix Forte as
speaker Others mentioned were Prep Nathan Pusey of
Harvard, and Sen Kennedy It was agreed to ask
Judge Forte
Question of a choir was discussed, and it was
decided to ask the Lexington Choral Society to take
charge of the music . Mr. Cole will contact the presi-
dent of the Society Many members of the Society be-
long to church. choirs
Mr Warden was asked to bring copy of last

year' s program to the next meeting, October 17th at
8 15 p.m , which will be held in the Selectmen' s
room, town office building
