HomeMy WebLinkAbout1957-10-03-TCC-min.pdf 105 ( - TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE October 3, 1957 The eighthmeeting of the committee was held at 8 1.5 p.m. , October 3, 1957 in the Conference Room, Cary Memorial Hall Members present Lewis, Hutchins, Poehler, Cole, Pullen, Litchfield Representatives Mr Foster and Viano of Chamber of Commerce; Mrs Lanson, L W V. Mr Lewis acted as chairmanin the absence of Mr Gustin. Mr Foster informed the committee the YANKEE Mayor of Boston and Yankee Homecoming had issued an in- HOMECOMING vitation to Queen Elizabethto visit Boston during her visit to the U S Mr Foster also showed a poster en- titled "Let It, Begin Here" done by Mr Frost One sug- gestion was to send one to each of the 16 towns named Lexington in the U S Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Concord called Mr Viano, and they plan to have lunch next Tuesday Mr Viano will report to committee any plans or ideas discussed Concord would like to be included in Yankee Homecoming Committee gave permission for Rotary to have Ball the night of the 19th, as requested by Mr Viano. Mrs Hanson reported on her work for U N obser- vance at the high school She is working on obtaining thrives fnr essay cont t Mr Poehler--sa-id-Mis-s McPrrtyro will check with Mr Smith and Mr Warren to have Mr Gibson accompany the essay winners to New York Mr Gibson has accepted. Mr Robert Craven of the Lexington Minute Men came to the meeting, and offered to obtain speaker for the U N assembly He suggested a French priest connected with the U N Mr Poehler took literature and name, but it was felt the assembly was well organized and there might not be time enough for this speaker. Mr Lloyd and Mr. Borella of the newly formed 4-H Riding Group also came to the meeting. They wish their group to participate in the morning parade of the 19th, and asked permission of the committee The group ranges in age 106 from 12 to 20 years, and they can enter 16 horses and riders They will insure the horses . The committee r made no decision, but informed them matter of horses in the parade had to be cleared with the police Mrs . Pullen, has not found anyone in Lexington to speak at the assembly, but program seems to be adequate as already planned. Eleanor Litchfield, Secretary L.
