TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
July 22, 1957
The first meeting of the 1957-1958 Town Cele-
brations Committee was held at Cary Memorial Hall at
8 30 p.m , July 22, 1957 Those present were: Messrs
Gustin, Lewis, Cole, Hutchins, Mesdames Pullen,
Cheever and Litchfield.
Mr Lewis made a motion to elect officers for
the ensuing year Motion was carried, and officers ORGANIZA-
were elected as follows TION OF
Chairman - Mr Joseph Rooney COMMITTEE
Co-chrmn - Mr Lincoln Cole
Secretary- Mrs Gerald B Litchfield
Mrs Pullen was appointed chairman of pub-
licity, and Mr Poehler, previously appointed, is
chairman of U N. Day
Mr Lincoln P Cole, Jr , Mrs Philip F
Pullen, and Mrs Gerald B Litchfield were the three
members appointed by the Board of Selectmento
serve for three years
The committee has been approached by the Lex- COUNCIL OF
ington Council of Churches to see if the committee CHURCHES
would sponsor a Thanksgiving service with all Lex-
ington churches participating Before making a de-
cision Mr Lewis will contact by phone Father Casey
of St Brigid' s, and Father Murphy of Sacred Heart
Mr Gustinwill contact the minister of the Jewish
synagogue
Mr Gustin said $256 had already been anent
of our 1957 budget, with $50 apiece given to the BUDGET
senior and junior high schools
It was tentatively planned to have meetings
the second and fourth Monday of each month, Mrs MEETINGS
Litchfield to contact Mr Poehler to see if those
dates are convenient for him Next meeting is to
be August 12th
