April 26, 1957
The nineteenth meeting of the Town Celebrations
Committee was held at Cary Memorial Hall, Conference
Room, at 8 p.m April 26, 1957 Members present were
Messrs. Albertine, Gustin, Rooney, Hutchins, Mrs
Ch.eever and Mrs. Litchfield.
The first order of business was to hear the pro-
tests of the following citizens of the town. because HORSES
horses were not permitted to be in the parade IN
PARADE
Mr and Mrs Paul Lloyd
Mr and Mrs . Frederick J Hopwood
Mr. John Brucchi
Mr. Sam Borella
It was pointed out to them that all interested
groups in town had been notified through the Minute-man
that there were meetings of the Town Celebrations Com-
mittee to which they were invited, and no member of
their group ever came It was also explained that units
cannot be included in the parade the morning of the 19th
without previous notification. A group of young people
on horseback appeared that morning, and had to be told
they were not on the roster of parade, but could march
after the police cruiser, on their own responsibility
The committee was advised that Mr Douglas Maxner SPIRIT
would no longer take responsibility for the Spirit of OF '76
'76, and it was decided that Mr Gillespie should be
asked if he H±gk. Ju«vol would care- to take—that detail
of the parade
Motion was made and seconded that the committee
pay up to $25 for lunch for the National Lancers
Motion carried
