TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE
IOctober 10, 1956
The fourthmeeting of the Town Celebrations
Committee met in the Town Hall at 8 00 p.m , October
10, 1956, with the following members present Messrs
Gustin, Peirce, Rooney, Gagne, Albertine, Mesdames
Cheever and Litchfield
The meeting opened with reports
Mrs. Pfaff of the League of Women Voters re-
ported for the committee selling the U N Cook Books COOK BOOKS
A tent will be erected for their use on Wednesday
afternoon, October 24, and on Thursday and Friday
following, the books will be sold at the A & P and
the First National Stores
Joseph Donnelly reported for the Student
Council They approved the idea of an Essay Con- STUDENT
test for another year A tree will be planted at COUNCIL
the High School October 24th in commemoration of U N
Day Approximate time will be around 10 a.m , but
I ! he will notify committee of exact time Mr Gustin
will look into the matter of a plaque, which will be
similar to those on the green
Mr Albertine reported for the Council of
Churches, that they had voted to participate in any
way
A motion was made and seconded that this
committee write the clergy relative to U N Day,
1957, asking for their suggestions Motion carried
Approval was given to L W V for distribution
of non-partisan pamphlets on government on U N Day
The April 19th parade was discussed briefly
Father Casey of St Brigid' s Church is to be invited
to our meeting on October 18th, to talk over arrange-
ments so that the parade will not interfere with
early morning masses Mr Rooney will contact Father
Casey
