HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-09-10-TCC-min.pdf 51 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE Eight of the nine members of the Town Celebra- tions Committee met in the Conference Room of Cary ORGANI- Hall, September 10, 1956 at 8 p.m Mr Bertram Gustin ZATION was chosen chairman; Mr Joseph Rooney, vice-chairman; and Mrs Edith B Cheever, temporary secretary Mrs. Melissa Williams gave her letter of resignation in favor of Mrs Rowena Robinson to Mr Gustin It was voted to accept her resignation with regret Mr Gustin asked that Mrs Cheever write to the Board of Select- men and enclose Mrs Williams' letter It was voted to suggest to the Board that our first choice would be Mrs Robinson and our second choice, Mrs Litchfield, and that the new member be appointed as soon as possible After a short discussion about April 19th in 1957 coming on. Good Friday, it was decided to put all UN Day our efforts at present to celebrating UN Day in Lex- ington We planned to hold an open meeting next week, September 18, in either the Conference Room or Esta- brook Hall Mrs. Cheever was asked to reserve the rooms and to write a news article inviting represent- atives from organizations in town Mrs Cheever was asked to individually invite Mrs Pfaff of the League of Women Voters and Miss McIntyre of the High School Meeting adjourned at 9 10 p.m Edith B Cheever Temporary secretary SII
