HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-04-03-TCC-min.pdf 43 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE April 3, 1956 A special meeting of the Town Celebrations Committee was held on the evening of April 3 for one hour ( 7 30 - 8 30) in the American Legion Room APRIL 19th Those who were unable to attend were LaPorte, Gilles- pie, and Cheever Mr Lewis explained that Mrs. Rogers had asked a General Thomas D. ( not Williams) to be our guest of honor April 19 He read the letter he had typed and sent airmail to General White. Visitors to the meeting were Major Krogh and Lieutenant Graves of Bedford Air Base Mrs Williams was asked to write invitations to Commander Maude of Cambridge Research. Center, Col. D E.Newton,Jr , and Col Woodrow Dunlop Mr Lewis extended an invita- tion to Major Kroghto lunch with, the group of visi- tors at Hartwell Farm. Mr. Poehler reported that 28 boys had been selected from the elementary schools to form a small color guard under the training of Maurice Healey Mr. Sawyer reported on stands and decorations All is in readiness Mr Poehler is to have a sign LET IT BEGIN HERE done by the art department at the High School for the reviewing stand. Mr Foster reported that police protection has all been arranged with. Mr Rycroft Mrs Litchfield gave the names of the three jā€rlges- M-rs P-arsonsMr. Worthen, and- Mr Plummer.--She will work out a score card with Mrs Cheever for the judges It was felt by those present that the most points in scoring should be given to best expression and originality of the theme Publicity on this and request for merchant participation should be attended to at once Mr. Lewis said he would notify the High School bands that they were to arrange for their own trans- portation and send the bill to him Mrs Bernier suggested an idea for a "gimmick" : a fake money bill marked "Your Bill of Rights - Worth More than All the Money in the World" on one side and the Bill of Rights printed onthe other She had a 44 sample .
