HomeMy WebLinkAbout1956-03-27-TCC-min.pdf 41 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE March 27, 1956 The fourteenthregular meeting of the Town Celebrations Committee was held on the evening of March. 27 in the American Legion Room with fourteen present Those who were unable to attend were Mrs Robinson, Mrs LaPorte, Mr Poehler (Mr Rooney stopped in before the meeting and Mr Gustin after the meeting ) Mr Lewis told us that Mrs Rogers had asked General William White, Deputy Chief of Staff from GUEST OF Army Pentagon, to be our guest of honor Material HONOR concerning his position and merit have not been re- ceived yet Brief reports were received from Mr Sawyer - decorations and stands are being cared for Mr Holman ( visitor) - came for instructions concern- REPORTS OF ing the loud speaker He was asked to get COMMITTEES better reception this year He will be given an "official" arm band to wear He offered to take some tape recordings Mr Hutchins - plans for reception under way Luncheon for guests to be at Hartwell Farm Mrs Litchfield - Two judges have accepted Mrs Parsons and Mr Worthen Mr Ripley had another engagement, but would be someone to keep in mind another year She was asked to speak with lion rlummer for taird judge She has written to the churches about ringing bells in the morning Mrs Cheever - Mrs LaPorte' s address is not correct; should be 345 Waltham st The DAR will not have a float; the Fire Department will Mr Lewis - told us that Mr Rooney is caring for prizes Asked the following members to help Mrs Williams see Mr Merriam about color pictures Mr Dearborn - see if garages will let us use six open top cars 42 Mr Hutchins - order arm bands ; write Norwich r , band that luncheon arrangements are o k Mrs Cheever - call Selectmen' s office to have American Legion room open at 7 30 on April 3; 8 p.m on April 10 and 17 Write to Mr Rock to invite him to ride in parade ( p.m ) Notify committee members of weekly meet- ings and of our marching with arm bands in the a.m. parade Mr Gillespie - turned in acceptances from Gloucester, Maynard, Needham The regular meeting closed at 9:15 and Roster meeting lasted for two hours . Those staying for that were Lewis, Cheever, Dearborn, Hutchins, and Bash.ian Mr. Gustin stopped in to report he had given the Lex- ington School Committee a notice on the Theme He also reported that he had given Director Brown in Boston the data bout Lexington for the Patriot' s Day folder Mr Brown suggested that hereafter this Com- mittee send in data by middle of February The roster was completely checked and final material must be in by March 29 so that the list may be given to the printer Mr. Hutchins will check with Fort Devens and Tufts University Mr Foster will need to get division signs ( 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th) for parade Mrs Cheever is to notify Christ Church Drum and Bugle Corps, that we would like to have them par- ticipate Edith B.
